So as you may or may not know, I own a Gold GMT 1675 Rootbeer seen here






I have the original hidden clasp jubilee bracelet original to the the watch. My question to you is, Would you buy a period correct rivet oyster bracelet for it? Just curious on your opinions or would you be looking to spend the money on another watch?

PS. I know the pats lost today :(

Outstanding combo, leave it as is.

I'd leave as-is and instead think about another watch. Personally I love those GMTs with Jubilee (plus I find jubilee more practical for daily wear).

Without any consideration of aesthetic preference, riveted bracelets are very nice and comfortable but in the same time very "fragile" and in your case very expensive (gold). Compared to your current set up, this will also make your watch sits higher on the wrist due to the end-link construction of the riveted bracelet.

Use the cash to buy something else.

Here's the deal - happened to me many times.....

You get a period correct bracelet and then you are left with a lovely bracelet without a home for it's end links to attach to !

2 weeks later, after seeing the poor unloved, unutilised and valuable bracelet in your accessories box, you go out and buy a period head, (eg a 16758 in your situation), and attach it to your lonely old bracelet.....and you reflect afterwards, blimey....as you've blown 2 lots of cash !

Just be prepared, as that'll happen.

Ps looks mighty fine as is :)

The watch ( 1675 ) is and bracelet are original to each other and resided in the same family (1971)till my acquisition. I have the original bezel and insert as well. So it is married. Just think it would be nice on a rivet which is also period correct as well I also have my eye on a Explorer too :). Thank you.

I have a later Root Beer, 16713, that came on an Oyster and I love it on a Jubilee. You already have the best combo. Enjoy it as is!

I had the same issue with my 1675/8 with Jubilee hidden clasp bracelet, because when I saw a photo of the same watch with the rivet bracelet I loved it.
Luckily I found a newer 16718 with the riveted bracelet, so now I feel satisfied, I know that if I want I can swap the two, but I still thinking that the brown 1675/8 looks better with the Jubilee, infact at the end I never made the change between the two.
I don't think I would have bought just the bracelet.

Nothing wrong with an extra bracelet.

However, nobody would know period correct or not. Since it isn't going to be an original configuration and there is no reason at deception, get a quality bracelet in the price range you want. Period correct is irrelevant for a substitution.

This bracelet is good quality with 80 endlinks, but correct me if I’m wrong but is it true they used 80 end link period correct only for 6542 GMT even though it fits 1675?

Beautiful! What does the clasp look like. I thought it was either a 58 or an 80 end link and they were used on many different references. Not until later that they really started making the end link specific to the reference. That said, this is a question for the experts. Really looks great BigBlue1 and in great shape too!

According to one of the best references, the 6542 and the 1675 could have had original bracelets with the same end pieces.

For both the 6542 and the 1675:

58 or 64 on the 6636 20mm Stretch Rivet Oyster

58 or 80 on the 7206 20mm Rivet Oyster

These are the only Markings. Anyone can throw end links on any bracelet. They are 80, but other than that there are no other model numbers present.

After doing my own research I have been able to locate a rivet bracelet, same as mine on a 1969 model listed on craft and tailored that is no longer available but has the same markings. My model is from 1971
