Thoughts on Cartier Ronde Solo XL

Looking for a nice dress watch that wont break the bank. Any thoughts on the Cartier Ronde Solo XL 42mm? I like how it's thin, silver dial, leather strap, and price at $3500 mrsp. Not a fan of square watches so the Tank its out. Current watches (SubC, BLNR, and 16710 pepsi) are very similar with black dial and SS bracelet. I would like something different that I could wear both dressed up and causal.

Not sure how the newer ones are but my Santos and tank are probably the most unreliable watches I ever owned....

My experience is Cartier Santos Galve and Tank keeps better time than
Rolexs's and AP.

I have had my Cartier Tank Solo XL for almost three years now. I enjoy it and wear it regularly as a dress watch. It's very reliable and keeps great time. I did find out the it didn't work well on my winder so I got ride of my winder.

That is probably not your winder's fault. The Cartier movement only has one-sided winding so you'll need to turn the winder the other way round.

The 7750 movement also has one-sided winding but should you own one of these and a Cartier with that movement you'll be out of luck as they only wind opposite of each other...

I have the 36 mm no-date version of this watch. Have only had it 2 months but it is keeping within 2 seconds per day and so far so good. Bought it as I wanted a classy 36mm dress watch with roman numerals and blue hands. Tried on dozens that fit this description (there or there about) but kept coming back to the Cartier. I'm hoping it stays reliable and trouble free. Does anyone have any info on the movement. I'm assuming it is an ETA??

$3500? I would strongly pass on that, and get below. Thin, silver dial, 40mm, in house movement, fantastic detailing and an overall great piece......pretty much all you desire. Nomos is my favorite brand in this price realm, they're putting out incredible stuff for the price. Honestly, nobody is really touching them if you're fond of Bauhaus styling.

+1 on Nomos, and I love mine to death. However, the sterile design may get old. The new Cartier Santos line has some pizazz to it...

Different strokes for different folks of course. I love minimalistic styling found on the Nomos....timeless and elegant. To me, that Cartier Santos looks like something you would find at Macy's.

I recommend to see that watch personally, although "just" 42mm, it is massive imo, extremely wide and flat. Do not buy this watch brand new, you'll take a hit reselling it.

Honestly, good looking but I prefer Nomos at that price and you might find some JLC Reversos as well.
