Submariner no date 124060 time setting stuck
hi guys, pardon me for being a total noob (first rolex after 3 tudors and many seikos)
so i have a submariner no date 124060 (love it!!!) that i got from an AD in osaka, today after wrist-rotating my other watches (the tudors and the seiko) i decided to fully wind and set the time on my submariner so i can wear it there was something very strange - after a full wind, i cant seem to pull the crown into the time setting position (with the usual force) - it was harder than normal to pull it into the time setting position not wanting to break anything, i decided to do a reset: i had to push it in, screw it back to locked position, unscrew the crown, then do another try then it seems to go into the "time setting" position a little bit more easily (phew! ) my question is .... what happened? did i do something wrong ? has anyone encountered this strange phenomena? (seemingly not able to pull the crown into the time setting position) and yes its a legit sub from a rolex store |

I find that you have to grip the crown more at “the edges” rather than the “entire crown” and it works better.

I have had this happen. Sometimes the crown can just be in an odd position after winding. I'd have to rotate the crown in one direction or the other slightly to get it to pull to the setting position. Which usually makes me angry because I have to wait for the seconds hand to come back around to 12, haha.

You are speaking about Submariner.
Submariner no date does not exist. Submariner date, does exist, however. |

It sometimes happens to me with my 114060. I just can't pull it out all the way. I then re-screw it back in, and then it pulls out normally...
I've had my Sub about 5 years, and it's probably happened about 3 or 4 times, but believe it or not, it actually happened to me earlier this week. I never really worry about it, to be honest... |

There is a "that's what she said" joke in there somewhere...

I have had this happen on both my 31XX and 32XX Movements. I would say this is normal.
I typically do a test hack on the seconds hand prior to hacking at zero so I don't have to wait another 60 seconds in frustration to re-hack. |

I've experienced this with my rather new 126710BLRO. Thought I may need to have it looked at, but now, I think I'm good.

The crown is an upside down socket, and the stem has a hex-nut welded to it. When the crown pops out it needs to engage with the nut. If it does not align, it is almost impossible to pull. Also, all of the other parts and pieces need to move out of the way into their respective slots. Sometimes you have to treat them rough.

Yep. It occasionally happens with my sub. date.
Never have had it occur with my OP or Explorer. |
