The Roman/Baton combo on the dial looks confusing to me.

Just have to go platinum I guess???

I agree on the combo dial though. Hard to tell what is going on there. It is like a California dial experiment gone sideways. Speaking of which Adam, what do you, think of the Ranger with the Cali dial??

Rolex sure has focused on the DD the last Basels. It is the flagship after all. Interesting with the new movement, I hope it find its way to the other models eventually. Still the 36 mm DD looks best IMO. I'm happy they keep going with solid casebacks.

Can't believe they are not gonna give it a sapphire caseback with a brand new fancy movement.

That new blue dial is stunning. Can't wait to see that in person.

40mm is what the DDII should have been. Glad to see Rolex correct that mistake.

+1. The 41 is just too big for my wrist. 39 would have been even better

Well you can always pick up a Masterpiece! I think these are discontinued now, though (pic by Watch Chest):

I guess they're finally giving an option to people who like Romans but complain about the "XI" being cutoff.

Exactly.

Finally an aesthetically balanced alternative to the icon 36mm.

Let's hope this trickles down the DJ next year...I better start saving now in case that happens.

40mm dd2 looks a lot better then the current dd2. At least in the photos
Current dd2 looks a little chunky and not as classy as a dd 36mm

Anyone else notice they changed the style of the Roman Numerals on these? They kind of have that retro DJ Roman Numeral look.

That is something I have been waiting for.

36 was too small and 42 just too big, seems out of balance to me.

I guess the new 40mm can be called the goldilocks:)

Wow looks amazing. Crazy how big a difference a mm or 2 makes in the balance of the dial...

Nice movement...but a bit of a one-trick pony. Unless...the movement gets used in other watches. Day Date Sub anyone?

The "tech" from this movment will gradually trickle down into other models.

this is the only new release that i am excited about.

i am enjoying smaller sizes lately and i think this is a really good balance between the 36 and 41.

looking forward to seeing this in person.

Sweet they corrected the bezel. Looks better balanced this way. Other bezel was just to wide imo.
