Buy your own set or screw drivers and learn to size your own watch so you can control the stickers.

While agree they should have respected your wishes there's not much you can do about it now, other than be upset.
I size my watches myself and remove the stickers when done. I have never been forced to remove the stickers at my AD.

Well, umm, no, but you can come to where I live and take the stickers off.

I would have asked the tech if your direction not to remove plastic was clear, and if his answer was "yes", then I would have asked for an explanation; if his answer was "no", then I would have chalked it up as a misunderstanding (although it does not sound like this was the case). If your direction was clear and the tech simply did what he wanted anyhow, then that would be the last time I set foot in that establishment.

Do this if you have these type of expectations. I don't agree with what the AD did especially after you discussed it specifically...but they did you a "favor" and beggars can't be choosers.

He said it was a mistake, and that it was simply "habit". He was pretty embarrassed, so didn't want to pile on.

Seethed in frustration quietly and left.

If you intended to keep and wear who cares? Only reason to care is if you wanted to resell after wearing with stickers.

Yeah, very frustrating, I'm sure. Probably an awkward situation, too. Sorry to hear of the mishap.

Correct, new policy as stated above... To many resellers selling “as new with stickers”. And if you would have reported the AD to Rolex, they would do absolutely nothing about it, not saying it’s right, but that’s the facts.

Habit or New Policy? You're lucky they didn't keep your warranty card for the next 12 months..

Us watch owners are a particular OCD bunch. Annoying that you didn't get what you expected, but it's not really a big deal. Sure it's expensive, but it's also a mass produced watch. It'll be okay.

Might have lost that 'BNIB' status but the damage done to your watch is zero.

I would be upset on principle as they shouldn’t irreversibly modify your watch against your wishes. What recourse would make you happy?

If I was the AD owner, I would offer a discount on your next purchase or move you to the front of the line on a sought after piece as compensation for my tech’s mistake.

Not this specific AD's responsibility to remove stickers.

For more context, when asked, the tech looked completely embarrassed and said it was a "habit" and accidental. Clearly a mistake had been made, nothing having to do with policy.
As mentioned, invest in the micro screwdriver kit
and do it yourself next time . Then you won’t be concerned
about someone taking stickers off or butchering your screws
and bracelet links ... that’s what I did !!!

Either that or they suspected you were a flipper and so did their bit to curb the greys as they have been drilled to do, even tho as they did not sell you the watch they are not culpable to Rolex.

Not sure why a flipper would bring a watch into an AD with stickers on it to be personally sized.

Like I said above, it was a mistake by the tech who admitted to it. Not policy related.

Why buy a watch to just keep in the safe anyway? Modern Rolex watches, even the hard to acquire models like the ceramic SS Daytona are produced in such great quantities that they will likely never become true collector pieces.
Now, if you are fortunate to afford a limited edition PP, or ALS etc that might be a different story altogether.

1.It’s not BNIB if you have had links removed
2.It’s not a big deal if the stickers are removed and it will not affect the value
3.I am assuming they sized it for free and you didn’t buy the watch from them hence you have little to complain about
4. Mistakes are made and Shit happens
5. Seems to me that people go out their way to be offended or outraged these days

AD went to size my watch, and removed all stickers against my wishes. Advice?

Imho yes it’s your watch and your $$$ but they are to be removed as I’ve been told by 2 ADs. I went and picked up my 31’ Contender last summer and they were jumping 3-5’ waves at 60mph off the beach when I pulled up. I didn’t mind bc I beat it harder than that sometimes but it was a little more painful to watch than someone pulling off my stickers of one of my watches. I’m not careless with my things but I buy them to use and am hard on all my toys. I just try not to sweat the small stuff.

In my opinion it also ensures that you cannot claim damages after the watch has left the store. With stickers on, how can you really do a thorough inspection of the watch before taking possession?

In the car market, I do not see many cars leaving the dealership with the white plastic they put on to prevent damage during transportation. Neither do I see the plastics on the steering wheel or seats being left intact during delivery. Honestly, this is making a BIG deal out of something extremely small.

If you’re a collector the could be worth hundreds of dollars today. Maybe thousands down the road. That of course depends on the watch and the market.

I’m not trying to support keeping stickers on watches, but I do believe in ownership. I get why they’re doing it but I still think it’s silly.
