Rolex BLNR Craigslist 5K

This Batman on CL for 5K in Seattle - stickered up.

I see a few questionable things but hard to tell with photos.

Price is one of those questionable things!!

The fact that payment must be made via Paypal alone should have you running for the hills...

True, and I never considered purchase as the whole thing seems sketchy and I have BM anyway. I am more interested in what people see in the watch to better spot the signs.

Just curious. why is Paypal no good? It is not cash, so the seller cannot rob him. If seller allows the buyer to take it to a Ind jeweler to authenticate the watch, isn't it a preferred, safer way to buy?
Agree that it is a scam though.. He can probably sell it to a used watch dealer for higher than that.

Just curious, if you met someone like this at an AD, would they be able to check if the serial has been reported stolen?

I picked two separate items up from trust fund babies just looking for cash, met each of them at the retailers they were sold at. One was an expensive handbag for the wife and the other a watch. Met one of them at the YSL flagship store and the other at Tourneau. Both items were authenticated/along with verifying the transaction for the exact item had happened at the store, along with the original purchase receipts which each seller let me keep.

I could probably turn around and sell either of these items at a profit, TBH. Obviously not the handbag for the wife, but if I move on from the watch I bought, worst case IMO is a breakeven.

While I agree most things like this are scams, with the proper safety nets in place, there are some sweet deals to be had if you do your DD.

This one screams scam to me though, but wondering about the original serial number question at the beginning of my post.

The watch in the pic may or may not be real. The one you need to worry about is the one they try and give you.

I have too with no issues fortunately, but wrong place to buy an expensive watch. Way too risky and too many scams.

The link from Seattle is dead, but there is a similar post in the Kansas City CL. (I can’t attach the link due to being a new member.)

Looks like a scam to me.
