Rolex 116613 Real? Fake?
Hey folks... So, I am planning to go look at a black two-tone sub in about an hour and a half.
I don't know a ton about these newer Submariners (I own older Subs). The guy says it's a 2011 and has all boxes and papers. I am attaching the pics that I have of the watch.Something doesn't seem right, but Im not expert. Can you all give me your opinion on this? Fake? Real? I know there aren't a ton of pics to go off of here. Also, if not sure, what should I look for? Thanks as always! |

Yeah the pictures are terrible, which to me usually means they're trying to hide something. While looking over the pics again, I realize that the booklet in the picture is for a Milgauss.
My gut says its not right, I think Im gonna pass on even going to look at it. |

What's he done to the clasp? I looks like the piece it's supposed to connect to has broken off, but it doesn't appear to be on the fliplock end either.
That's a sure sign of a fake. There have been a few (very few) reports of this happening in a genuine watch, and if it happened to you, you'd get it fixed immediately. You wouldn't list it for sale. My take: He knows it's not worth fixing. Run away. |

From what I've read here, requesting that the seller meet you at an AD to have the watch authenticated before proceeding is a prudent request.

The Box looks fake. Papers look authentic. Watch looks okay but the Bezel raises questions. Better lighting and better angles better camera would bring out the truth!

From the first picture, i think i can make out there is a gap between the rehaut and the dial's chapter ring (i.e. the seconds/minute dashes) which corresponds to a particular replica model/factory/batch (from Thai origin). A genuine 116613 does NOT have this feature (no matter which dial typography/year is concerned).
Chapter ring suspicion + poor photo quality + Milgauss book = run for the hills |

Thanks everyone. I passed on even going to look at it. Once I saw the Milgauss booklet and just going with my gut, it didn't seem right.
