Pin or screw on speedy bracelet??

All,

I just saw the Speedy video on the Omega website and the SS bracelet used on there seems to have a screw on the first link... While mine has a pin.

Why is there a difference? Is this normal??

The new version comes with a new bracelet that uses screws instead of pins. The model number is also different.

Old hesalite pro was 3750.50
New hesalite is 311.30.42.30.01.005

Old sapphire was 3573.50
New sapphire is 311.30.42.30.01.006

New bracelet and new box with two extra straps, a spring bar pin, a loupe, and a speedmaster medallion.

I believe when they changed the reference number and introduced the special box, Omega also switched from pins to screws for the bracelet. I bought my Speedy Pro in June from an Omega Boutique, and it was the older reference number with no special box, and pins in the bracelet.

EDIT: Syed said it quicker and shorter than me. Then he did an edit and said a lot more.

Same thing happened with Smp... When they introduced the ceramic bezel, they went with screws in the bracelet

A minor gripe, but I really hate the new Omega reference numbers. They are impossible to remember.

Absolutely. It would have been one thing if they changed or added a digit somewhere. These new ones makes no sense. The classics should have easy reference numbers.

Not sure what they were thinking.

x2

And one can't even say the name of their watch without elaborating. "I have a Seamaster" means one owns 1 out of 100 possible models, some of which are vastly different. And then there's the limited edition models within the brand to further muddy the water. Nicknames are a necssisty for Omega fans IMHO.

I agree! They're ridiculous. I'm sure we'll eventually develop some kind of shorthand. For my part, I think I'll always just call a Speedy Pro a "3570.50".

The screws in the bracelet are a worthwhile upgrade to the watch. However, the price hike is substantial and the box and straps do little to justify it.

Excellent summary. I had no idea they upgraded the bracelet to screws and changed the reference numbers too. Those new reference numbers are indeed impossible to remember...they just don't have quite the same ring to them.
