Next watch choice decision.

Hi everyone, I would love your input to help in my quest for my next watch.

My current watch is a 114270 Explorer 36mm which I love and will likely keep it forever.

I am looking at a few different models that could make a great watch to pair with the Explorer. I really like all the choices here and could be very happy with any of them i'm sure.

I am leaning towards pre-ceramic for the Subs as I prefer the case size for my wrist.

What do you think the best choice would be for me to make?

The shortlist is:

Explorer 2 16570 Polar
Sub no date 14060/M
Sub date 16610
Omega '57 Seamaster trilogy LE

Thank you!

To me the Explorer looks a little large on your wrist. I like the sub ND best and best on your wrist of the 3. But if you prefer the date, get the date, I just like the simplisity of the ND.

Those are all nice choices. The Expll would seem to be the most diverse to me although the 14060m looks great on you.

Thanks for your input. I see you have an exp 2 and it looks I think having a duo of Explorers could be a nicely themed 2 watch Rolex collection.

I like the Submariner 16610 - my first choice.

Thank you. I think they could be the centrepiece of my collection. I believe this sub has the same movement as my Explorer? Not sure if thats something to consider a good or bad thing.

Thank you. yes I agree, not sure if it is the angle of the pic or the white dial making it appear larger in the photo, as they are all 40mm apart from the Seamaster.
The Date is appealing to me because it has a different movement than the Explorer and a date can be useful, however I also love the no date.

I do and I love it. I have the 216570 42mm though. I also really like the 16570.
I chose that first to give you the option of a white dial and the function of the GMT hand. I travel a lot and work abroad so I use the GMT function a lot.

Thanks Nikrnic! I also have to bear in mind that the Subs go for more money currently.

Great choice, love it. The most expensive of the bunch though.

Yes, having a white dial would complement the black of the Exp. 1. I believe the Polar offers the best value for the added features of the watch.

If I went Sub no date, should I get 2 line or 4 line? I would want to be able to use it as a tool and potentially in water if it makes a difference.

Tough choice. I have the 114270, 16610 and 16570 polar. Both the Sub and Explorer II are superb, but the latter is a bit more comfortable, and the white dial is more unique.

since you got the explorer i, which is a semi-formal watch with no date......i would go for a 5 digit sub with the date complication

Exp II - for 2 reasons. First...this polar gives you a white dial to compliment your Exp 1. You will no doubt end up with a sub one day...but it’s close to the ex 1 in form and function. The GMT adds something else too. Second, I have ex 1, ex 2 and sub - and a few more- and the Ex 2 is my most comfortable watch. It honestly surprised me how attached I became to this watch once I started wearing it, since I think I’m mostly drawn to black dials. It’s my go to weekend and travel watch.

Most important - go with what you are drawn to. If you get something else you won’t be satisfied...and end up trading for it later. Good luck!

Looks great and an epic backdrop! I agree with all of the merits and differences of the Explorer 2. I'm not sure which would be the smarter decision to get soon between the Sub/date or Exp. 2 in regards to value also. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Thanks Dan. Yes it could be good to get something with a different movement. But the no date Sub is so symmetrical!

Good to see one person chooses this Omega! With the adjustable clasp, anti-mag properties, 300m WR and being a limited edition could make it a good value prop. Could buy new for a similar price as the Exp.2 and also comes with 2 additional straps, springboard tool and a watch roll.

The best choice, you already made it: it's a 5-digit that looks great on your wrist! As for which model, all look lovely, so go with whichever sings to you.

I’ve been wearing a 16610 for 7/8 years 99% of the time. To me it’s a go anywhere/do anything piece. That’s my pick, good luck!
