Something different then average Divers

Hi Folks,

Hope you all are having a wonderful day.

As you already know, I have been and am a Rolex fan.

I have several (hot) sport models in my collection l;

Deepsea Blue, BLNR, SD43, DaytonaC and GMT Pepsi.

I’m looking to have something different or at least looking different to the average diver (Bezel type of function).

I came across with the IWC Aquatimer 3290.
I love the deep dial and the Internal rotating dial. It really looks different then all divers in the market.

The only topic keeping off of buying it, is the ETA movement.
If there was a in-house movement, I have already bought it long time ago.

What do you guys think about this watch? Any experience good or bad?

Thanks and cheers,

Aquatimer is a workhorse. ETA fits it well, and so does the pricing on the used market. Go for it.

Aquatimer is a great looking watch. I’m not sure if it’s true for all models, but certainly for some it is by no means an off the shelf standard ETA movement.

You could buy 10 or 20 Seikos for the cost of an IWC or Rolex if you are looking for a fun diving watch. Check out the Save The Ocean models.

You want different but with in-house?
Chopard L.U.C. Pro One, Girard-Perregaux Sea Hawk, Perrelet Seacraft (early ones had ETA before Soprod A10 – both brands owned by Festina Group, so as in-house as Omega’s custom ETAs).

Here is my 46 mm Aquatimer with in-house movement. A tank of a watch.

Ever thought of the JLC Deep Sea Alarm Tribute? A dive watch with an in-house movement and alarm function with twin crowns. There are two different editions, US and Europe, which feature different dials. Unfortunately both are limited editions from 2011, but they do come up for sale on the forums from time to time.

Give the Blancpain bathyscape chronograph a look, it has a diving bezel as well as a chronograph you can activate underwater no problem. Also comes in different ceramic colors if that material appeals to you at all.

Thank you all for your suggestions

Probably I shouldn’t really care about the in-house movement as I hear ETA is pretty OK and IWC actually replaced 60% of the parts.

I just love the design of the Aquatimer- I think I will go for it.
I was thinking about the Cartier Calibre de diver but read a lot bad reviews regarding the bezel which is PDV Coated and its very easy to scratch
