I suspect that most non-WIS think spending thousands of dollars on luxury jewelry is patently absurd. I also think you trying to explain to them that you couldn’t possibly function in another time zone without having your Rolex GMT or you explain it’s impossible to go scuba diving without your Rolex submariner would not sway their opinion.

I totally understand there’s some nostalgia here with some of these references. I imagine the submariner was quite helpful to divers in the 1960s. Same with the GMT for pilots. Although it seems Breitling made more impact with the pilots back then. However having said this I don’t think you’re going to convince people that would never spend 10K on a watch anyway that you need these things to use as a tool today. Believe me I tried with my wife and she just rolled her eyes.

Ancient myth trotted out on-line as justification for wearing jewelry.

How many words is, "on-line"?

First off....

why would you have to explain it?
does this person know they are a non WIS?
does this person even know Rolex?
or what a watch is? ( most use a cell phone to see what time it is )
What a tool watch is?

and do you know yourself?

to me its a waste of time, i wear a Rolex because i want to and love it!

“Craftsmanship, build quality and attention to detail.”

I appreciate these qualities, if I didn’t I would not be into any automatic watch.
