I also had my name down within the first couple of hours it was released. At that time I was told by my SA that I am in a very good position to obtain one. And just a few weeks ago, he said I need to submit a short bio for an application so I wrote a 50 words bio of my hobby and what not. He said that any 222 for the next year needs the President's approval but my application should be good. It is supposed to be a new policy pushed down from the top. Since he already said that I am in good shape, I did not bother to pursue more on the how/why.
