We have a few helpers that come in regularly since my kids were born.

They help with everything. Cook, clean, babysit, dog sit, laundry, grocery shopping, even help with occasionally driving the kids...you name it.

Almost 20 year relationship and we have 100% trust in them. We treat them like family and vice versa.

We would have cash, Rolex, jewellery laying around in the open and we don't worry one bit. We are very lucky.

We had a house cleaner that came every other week for maybe a year or 2 and then Covid hit and we never resumed. I didn’t have the Rolexes at that point so theft wasn’t on my mind. I do all the gardening, car washing and detailing, and home remodeling (2 bathrooms and some other smaller projects). I have a hard time paying for stuff I can do myself!

Until age 40, I would spend time to save money.

I never had enough time or money.

Starting at age 40, I started spending money to preserve my time.

Increasingly, i had lots of both.

Our cleaning team arrives every other Wednesday. In ninety minutes, two energetic ladies essentially sterilize the interior of the home (3,400 sq ft) to a level I'd struggle to match and to a thoroughness I could never match. Of course, my wife and I keep the home tidy, take out trash, do all laundry, etc.

My office remains locked. Nearly everything of value is in safes in the office, and I vacuum and dust it in ten minutes a month.

20 HD cameras, if something is missing I'll have footage.

$145 plus $25 tip every other week. I'll sell watches to keep them if necessary.

Because I sell my time, there is a psychological impact of spending my time on low value tasks. Subconsciously, I would get the message that my time is not valuable.

Am I the only one who finds himself cleaning up his house the night before the housekeeper is supposed to be there?

Does anyone here actually clean their own home?

We sing, "Clean up for the maid, maid comes tomorrow" as we clean up on Thursdays...

I'm changing the oil in my truck this afternoon. Hopefully it won't completely destroy my ability to function at work tomorrow.

I get it, some stuff is Zen. That doesn't count. I too enjoy my wrenches and knowing something is properly done.

I can't claim to enjoy cleaning a shower, that's the stuff that destroys my self-perceived value when I know someone else will happily do it for very little money.

Cleaner every other week and landscaper every week.

Cleaners clean everything, except my office.

I figure their hourly rate is cheaper than my hourly rate.

We have always cleaned our home by ourselves. It's Spring and time for Spring cleaning. Looks like some of it can go in the recycle bin.... Old catalogs next... definitely recyclable.
