Surprised Incoming RO 41

Out of blue I got the call from the AD. She said they had several watches available and I should come in and take a look. Upon arrival I was surprised they were offering me Royal Oaks as I have only purchased the new 43 Offshore from them. They showed me the 39 and the 41. I liked the new 41 much better as it fit flawlessly with perfect mix of heft and comfort so I went with it. Pic below is top of mountain skiing on its 2nd day in my collection.
Very grateful to get this watch and is getting tons of wear. Hopes everybody is having great day.

It does not have the 50th year rotor on it as Feb 2023 which would have been cool but I could not be happier with it as is.

So they gave you the option to choose between this and a Jumbo to be your first RO? Would you mind sharing which boutique?

Tried on jumbo 39 and I liked the 41 better. Just felt right.

Congrats.

They gave you the option to choose between steel jumbo and 15510st blue dial without even asking for it?

That's quite amazing.

I had purchased a Offshore 43 and my wife on her own accord had purchased a 37 grey dial with diamond bezel, but not sure if that counted on my "account" or not. I was very surprised and grateful to get the call.

Congrats…..Even they see your purchase history as a household. It’s still amazing to be offered to buy a Jumbo that early. Between my wife and my account, we are 5 watches in and I’m still waiting for a Jumbo. I’m jealous.

I'm sure it did count. Nonetheless, it's pretty amazing that they offered you a Jumbo. My understanding is that the Jumbo had to be approved by headquarters. Congrats and props to you for choosing the one that you actually liked more.

Wait. What? You had only bought an offshore from them and they offered you a jumbo? a 16202? Sorry, just trying to be clear on this.

They went in detail about it and wanted the watches to go to collectors and not grey market. I know the manger causually and the SA and they know I collect alot of watches from other brands and assumed I was zero risk of walking out the door to flip it. I had recently attended one of their events which I assume helped as well.

The 41 wears better IMHO and I liked the dial better. I want a seconds hand as well . Hard to explain but has heft but wears so comfy you forget you have it on. The perfect balance. To me it was a no brainer and several thousand dollars less expensive

Yeah, I got a 15300 years ago when the jumbo went boutique only and did not have one nearby to try to source it. Same reasons as you for the second hand, quickset date and screw down crown but I somewhat regret not trying to get one at the time as it would have been nice to have. But personally, I prefer 39mm over 41 and had a 15400. Its just fits too large for me.

Congrats on the pickup!

Another thing zi thought was cool which I probably wont ever do but like the option. They said they will change the dial to any color and switch back since I got the blue dial. They said other colors you can change as well but not to blue, but if originally blue you can do any color in the future. Options are always great.

The wife's diamond bezel RO is key info here. AP likes that - twice as many people to sell stuff to.

I salute you for going with your own judgement, rather than listening to the hype machine

congrats great looking watch!

I am sure they'll keep you in mind going forward especially for buying what you really like vs just jumping on the hype wagon and grabbing the jumbo!

Completely agree with the new 41 over the 39 setting aside hype and resale (both irrelevant to a permanent collection). The subtle improvements to the 15510 (blue) — unlike its predecessors 15400 & 15500 — bears the closest family resemblance to the jumbo with slightly more wrist-presence. At the end of the day the jumbo is a super light, super thin watch (with a completely static dial).

Setting everything else aside you’ll no doubt enjoy wearing this one more. Looks amazing on your wrist!

My wife loves diamond. She bought RO34 with diamond and a RG offshore with diamond. I don’t think that’s a reason he got offered that so early. I think the boutique knows I love the brand they know I got 2 vintage ROs plus whatever they sold me. I asked for a Jumbo and they just basically said be patient I kind of give up. .
