Thoughts on 15202 and alternatives for smaller wrist
Hey all - been getting more serious about watch collecting over last few years and have been fortunate to get a 38mm ROC grey dial (for my 6.5 in wrist) along with some of the great Rolex pieces.
Absolutely in love with my AP. Being a goal-oriented person with collecting, where do I go next from here (grey market). I always thought the jumbo would be next obvious move given its size but not sure yet how I feel about no seconds hand, the smaller tapisserie, and the blue dial (is it too flat?). I’ve never seen one in person so would love some feedback from actual owners who’ve also had some of the other more modern royal oaks. Before the AP, I was always drawn to the aquanaut and tried one on for fun. I recall it being cool but not being wowed like I am with my AP. Also the clasp and strap seemed a bit dodgy (especially compared to something like the Rolex oysterflex). In a perfect world the RO perpetual would come in a 38/39mm size and id eventually consolidate everything for that one piece but sadly that probably won’t happen. What else should I consider? Appreciate your thoughts! |

How about a 15550? Seems like the jumbo isn't the perfect watch for you and it'll be incredibly hard to get. You get a seconds hand and it'll fit well on a 6.5inch wrist.

I guess it depends what size you’re looking for. A 15510 is 41mm vice the 38mm you have now and as a bigger guy who was concerned for something as small as 41mm, it wears bigger.

For 39mm get a 15300. If 39 is too big get a 15450. Winding or setting the date on a 15202 takes all the joy out of watch ownership.

Have both the 38mm Chronograph you mentioned as well as a 5167A, and latest addition was a 37mm RO 50th. I would say 37mm would be a great option, I have never tried on a Jumbo, but given the acquisition challenges etc I would suggest looking into 37mm for a time only option.

I think you should be looking for a 15450 or a 15550. I have your wristsize, this is a 15550
This is a 15450 on my wrist: |

I think 16202 is ideal. 15450 or 15550 are too small IMO. I think 15550 is ok if your wrist is really small.
The other option that I really is 26715ST. |

For 6.5” wrist, I suspect 15450/15550 is perfect. My wrist is a smidge under 7” and 15300 is perfect.

I think your wrist shape is also an important thing to consider here, not just your wrist size.
I’ve a 6.25” wrist that’s flat and found the 15550 perhaps a little small. I guess the 39 OG would be perfect but as something that’s potentially attainable from AP themselves, I’m after the 41 mm 15510… I’d suggest trying on the 37/41 RO before making a decision Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

My wrist isn't big, but also not "really small" (see photos in my previous post above), but the 37mm RO fits just fine. The 26715 and 15550 wear about equal as big by the way. It also depends on the flatness of your wrist, how a watch looks.. |

I usually bite my tongue and skip to the next thread when people post pictures about "pulling off" a 41mm RO on 6" wrists. There's a reason AP makes the RO in 4 different sizes. If a 38mm ROC fits, a 37mm RO should fit well too, and of course a Jumbo.

Thoughts on 15202 and alternatives for smaller wrist
Quote:
This isn’t my thread and I’m sure the OP will have valued your input. The wrist shots you provided of your 15550 and 15450 both look awesome . I was only adding that wrist shape as well as size, in my opinion, both need to be considered l. My personal preference is for the 15510 over the 15550. Doesn’t make me right or wrong as it’s just my preference. I’m comfortable wearing smaller watches too as I enjoy a DJ36 and an Explorer 36 in my collection. OP good luck on discovering your preference. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I owned a 5165A (38mm version of the 5167A) I wear 37-39mm RO's. Away from suze I found the aquanaut a boring watch. And could never become friends with the "formed" rubber strap. The watch as a whole fell a bit light. For me a RO is far more watch than the Aquanaut. |

Thanks everyone. Here is the 38mm on my wrist. I need to see a 15202/16202 and 15300 in person but there seems to be a lot of value in the 15300 option.
Or I may find that I already own my grail AP which is not a bad thing either! |

If this were my wrist I would not want to go bigger. I think the 15450 will be perfect for you. If you really don’t want to go smaller then go 15300. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

i think the difference between a 38mm roc and 15202 is probably negligible, the roc wears bigger than its size. not sure about the 15300 since even though it's also 39mm, the proportions are a bit different than the jumbo

I think it goes down to personal preference when it comes to the 37 vs 39. I recently acquired a 15450 and felt it was just a TAD small for my personal liking so I traded it up for a 15300 which is coming tomorrow.
I also have a 6.5" wrist and have never tried on a 39mm RO before so am excited and scared to see how it will look on the wrist. Can add some wrist shots tomorrow as soon as it comes in and I get it sized. |

6.5” wrist here, relatively flat and I’m about 6 foot tall
I own the 15550, 15202 and the 41mm QP. Have to say the 15550’s dial just feels small compared to the others. Even the 41mm fits fine on my wrist, but the sweetspot is the 15510 which I think I will request. The new case shape and tapered bracelet definitely help with the watch wrapping around 6.5” ish wrists. |

they called it the jumbo so if you think it's too big on your wrist i'd say it's just right

Literally just sized it and took a quick wrist shot. Right off the bat it’s absolutely perfect and exactly how I wanted a RO to look on my wrist. I don’t feel it’s too big at all, I think it’s just right for me while I felt like the 15450 was just a bit too small. Bracelet thickness looks the same? But the width is wider which I like a lot. More presence on the wrist. 15300 > 15450 for me in every aspect. Hope this helps. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
