A hello from down under.

A big hello to everyone from Australia. I've always been a fan of the Oysters and thought what better than to get one for myself for graduating from university to add to my collection of Seiko's and Citizens (hey, I WAS a poor uni student ).

An Air-King Date popped up locally on eBay and I pulled the trigger after much reading through the wisdom on these forums and getting it checked out by an AD and a local ex-Patek watchmaker.

It's a 1545xxx serial, so it has a bit of history to it. The previous owner had it for the last 30 years (family gift to him) and will forward me the paperwork when he finds it.

Oh, and apparantly I got it for much less than the market prices, which makes my inner student happy.

I don't want to slander Hour Glass - but I was less than impressed with the service last time I popped in. I prefer to assume that the salesperson was having a bad day. Air Kings and Datejusts are good entry level Rolex's and great for smaller wrists (34mm and 36mm respectively). I would recommend a nice DJ personally, do some research and you're bound to find some bargains.

I have a small wrist too - don't feel bad about it. The watch looks more prominent on it! :)
