I’m not sure what it is like in Switzerland, but I’m currently in Germany and I am stunned by how much public spaces are heated.
In shopping malls in particular, the heat is up so high that I can’t stand going in for too long. I have to strip down to my tshirt first. If I go in with a jacket or something similar, I can’t last more than a few minutes before heading outside gasping for fresh air. And it isn’t even cold yet! It is 17 degrees, yet people are dressed like it’s snowing. What are they going to possible wear when it is actually snowing??? I’m baffled by all of this, it doesn’t make sense to me. And the maid in the hotel keeps turning the heat in my room up to 23. I switch it off and open the window and she does it again. I had to ask her to refrain from doing so. Germans! Turn the heaters down, you are supposed to feel a little cold approaching winter, this is ridiculous! You don’t need to use gas to heat up your malls so high, send it to industry or store it so that when mad-dog P from the east stops supply, you’ve got some reserves.
