I know this has been discussed to hell and back but help needed 5712g/ 5726a
I have the opportunity to buy a grey market 5712g-001 or a 5762a-001, paying well over list on both which is likely to be the better investment? Is the g likely to scratch up/ mark badly as only ever wear stainless watches to this point in my life.
Also which in the forums eyes is the more casual of the 2 watches? I am likely to put a Rubber B strap on or use the Patek rubber as i am constantly around water in the day job. I really like both but absolutely hate losing money on watches. Any help or insight would be most welcome :) |

The fact that you paid above retail with a hope to sell them in future at an even higher price in itself already makes you ‘out of money’, unless of course the market goes up further and further.
My humble advice - go try on both time pieces, and see which one smiles at you. The joy that this brings far outweigh the money you can make, if not elsewhere. What’s mor Good luck in the acquisition journey. |

To add - if it was 5712 1a vs 5726 1a - I would go with the 5726 1a. I owned the 5712G and the 5726 1a - turned a 5726a down, so I might be a bit biased.

The market is still dropping so if you hate losing money there is only one sensible suggestion, keep your money - neither is an investment and indeed to sound boring, watches are never an investment. If you are happy to not treat them as an investment and to potentially lose money then both are great pieces, personally I would always go non PM for a sports watch. Since you are buying grey and paying a premium, is there a reason why you have limited your choice to just these two options?

Not the market to experiment if you are afraid of losing money. This even more true for ANY Nautilus on a strap. The strap models are the most risky IMHO. Neither is likely to do well in the fall back to earth. But then again this may be true of all watches. Buy what you love.

So you hate losing money on watches but you're wondering whether any of these two are "good investments" paying well above retail prices from a grey dealer while operating in a market that has been in constant decline for the last 6+ months, especially for highly hyped pieces like the ones you're thinking of buying...
I think you have your answer. Speculation =/= investment |
