5980R-001 recent run up

I have been looking at the 5980R-001 for the past month. In just the last 2 weeks the gray market pricing has bumped up quite a bit. Any idea why this is? I still see it as low as $85K, but others are asking $100K+.

What I don't understand is why a model that's years old and is not on the 'to be discontinued list' is suddenly so hot. Any thoughts?

basically all nautilus models show the same trend, 5980 1/R, 5980R, 5711 1/R, 5712R, 5712G and of course the steel models.

thats the real anomaly. the 5164A is getting left in the dust. even compared to the other aquas. Its a gem, a bargain (relatively), and one of the best watches in the catalogue. Mind blowing.

Probably cause of the price point...

5167a is right at rolex territory geneally

5164a. Is 5711 territory So most would go 11

I still dont have an aquanaut tho

im not on the list for a 5968. Not that i dont want it, its just gotten too nuts and i doubt i could even get it.

Just saying 64 premiums vs 5167 and 5968 premiums are really low comparatively, so if i was in the market for an aqua on the secondary market the 64 is the way to go just based on value.

True but remember the 64 sold for a lot under retail a few years ago, more than the 67 did, so it has had far further to go just to get into premium territory. So at 34/5K it has risen from 19/20K, very solid and all unthinkable pre brexit.

I think we go off topic here.....any other suggestions on price point on 5980R-001. Do we really think this is a bubble? Anyone see this model coming up at auction? Thanks.

Sorry dad, we digressed

Tbh I don't look at auction prices, as I have never paid over list for anything

But I do check out alot of IG pages and prices are on the rise, but we don't have to pay them do we
