TRF Meet-up

So, I have been around for a couple of years now. Has anyone ever considered the forums partnering with an AD to do a watch meet-up? Originally, I was thinking locally in Toronto, where I am. I go to my ADs parties, but usually, it is uneventful. Big spenders who don’t have a passion for watches. It would be nice to actually have an event where we can meet like-minded people. I would imagine an AD would be interested as it can drum up potential business. Let’s be honest we don’t just buy Rolex.

Would be interested to hear everyone's thoughts.

Yes, I have checked out the “Meeting Point”, it seems to be quite dead recently.

I would surely enjoy that. Not that many folks where I live, who are as passionate about watches, as I am.

My local Tudor AD did a monthly meetup for a while. But a single brand stagnates things. A general watch club would be cool.

I could see that. Some form of club would be nice.

If anyone is in th3 SF Bay Area, A couple of us are going to meet up at the Windup Watch Fair, in May. It’s a nice event, but mostly mid tier watches, micro brands, etc. I attended last year. It was a lot of fun.

Over the years I've attended TRF GTGs in London, Boca Raton, Covington, Louisville, Indy, Columbus, and a vintage Rolex GTG I organized w/ my local watchmaker in Bellevue, Kentucky in 2009. Each was a lot of fun and great to meet a diverse mix of like minded souls.

I have been to several in Toronto, NYC and in Florida. Somewhere I have a wrist pic at one with our own Brandrea in Cambridge Ontario.
Once saw a TRF poster who will remain nameless wearing a platinum on plat bracelet complicated PP genuinely admiring another’s $300 Seiko. That was nice to see.

Great example of this hobby at it's best.

Speaking of GTGs, I was remise in my duties by forgetting to previously mention the legendary [for me] TRF GTG at BaselWorld 2013. It was a big year for blue with the release of the Batman GMT & blue Tudor Heritage Chronograph. My wife & I enjoyed the train from Zurich to Basel, had the honor to meet up w/ Jocke and his pal Tony, who gave us a personal tour. We were also joined by Sam from NYC. It was an epic trip.

I'd never heard of that, Kat. I think I'll try to attend this year (May 3-5, Fort Mason). I'm into microbrands as well as Rolexes.

FWIW, we've held GTGs at ADs in San Francisco and then had dinner together at nice restaurants nearby. They're always fun. Here's a group photo of our watches at one of these get-togethers.

It's weird being the same age as old people.
