Yes the 14060 is a classic example of the Submariner, but the 3035 calibre is inferior to the MT5402.

You'll need more than "Come on" to counter these facts.

Completely agree.

I am looking forward to seeing a 58 someday, for the money it is hard to pass up.

Actually the upgraded 14060M was non cosc/2 line for quite a bit longer than it was cosc/4 line.

I would definitely keep the Sub. If you really want the 58, I would try to get one and still keep the Sub. Not really senseless to have both imo.

Appreciate all the feedback. I’ve been leaning towards holding the sub, but wanted some confirmation.

Keep the Sub and add the 58. If you can't add right away, save cash until you can add.

Each are great for their own reasons.

I would take the 58 over the modern sub all day, but the 5 series is a tough call. The 2 liner is a classic, the size and proportions are spot on and it will be harder to replace if you end up regretting selling. The 58 looks amazing and from a technical standpoint is superior, and for the price it's so hard to pass up. Wait until you can get your hands on one and see if it speaks to you in the metal. If you don't think the sub will get any wrist time after you buy it then sell it.

When it comes to the calibre, what would you suggest? I agree when we're talking about the whole package.

I’m hoping for a 40mm x 12mm pelaogs with this new movement.

Hell I’d take the current size just make it 12mm.

I am reading statements about the Tudor having the better movement. Just curious what people are basing this on.

The 14060 is classic and would not trade for a 58.

Please don't let your 14060 go to fund a Tudor. Please.

From a 14060M owner: the BB58 is a VERY appealing watch with pedigree, wonderful vintage case dimensions, and a modern movement (silicon, three day PR). This doesn't happen often and certainly not for under $4k.

If I didn't already have the two-liner, I'd have a BB58 on my wrist right now. I agree that owning both is redundant, but I still have flirted with the idea of waiting for second hand examples closer to the $3k mark. That much watch from a great brand for comparatively so little money is hard to pass up, especially with modern sub-40mm sports watches being so rare.

But trade any 14060 iteration for a BB58? Never.

I have the 58 on my wrist and love everything about it.
However, If I had 14060(m), I wouldn’t have picked up the 58.
But like many have said for the price? The 58 can’t be beated.

Keep the sub for sure, since you already have it and it won't likely lose value. I find it as the best modern Rolex sub, as I don't like the shiny ceramic bezels and square case of current models. Classic design with some modern features.

If you owned neither watch, the BB58 presents a strong value proposition at half the price. Giving you a vintage look combined with a modern movement with features that are arguably superior to the 3130 movement (70hr reserve combined with silicon balance spring, variable inertia balance, etc...) Movement is not proven, like the Rolex, but it is based on Rolex architecture, so I wouldn't worry much.

Always whatever you think. Whichever you like as we are all different.

I've never owned a black sub, it never interested me.

All my watches have colour of character. I've never been keen on traditional / black dial/bezel watches.

Although i do own 2, a tudor black bay-n and also the 58.

Everything else has something interesting to me / or has colour.

Bought a 14060 brand new in 95/96 and sold it. It's the only watch I've truly regretted selling. Absolute classic that I wouldn't give up for the BB58. I really like the BB58 but the 14060 is a different league for me.

As mentioned previously if funds dictate just buy the BB58 and wear in rotation and then make a decision once you've had sufficient wrist time to consider both. You'll be able to sell the BB58 without much problem
