Icon20 MOP Diamond Dials

I saw a post on TRF, that a man was hesitant about getting a MOP Diamond Dial because he thought that combination was very feminine who agrees & who disagrees & which is the nicest White or Dark MOP

My love of Rolex was inculcated when I was 10 by a larger than life Tony soprano-type neighbor (though he was sweet as a puppy and no mobster). He wore a 36 YG DD with diamond markers and a bezel of diamonds. His wife wore the lady DJ with diamond hours and bezel. No one would call him effeminate. Wear what you love. It’s only a watch. If it gives you pleasure, go for it!

Yes I would completely agree with you. I started a thread that involved my Daytona 116503 White MOP 8 Diamonds Dial & I don't see myself as effeminate

If that’s your style then why not? So what if some people consider it femine? I borrowed my wife’s watch for a day and I found myself liking it more as the day wore on. I can see why some people, even men, would choose to wear it.

Not a MOP dial, got the black diamond dial on my Daytona. Almost everyone prefers the panda. Doesnt really matter what others think as long as you are happy wearing it .

I havent bought it (yet?) but I fell in love with the pink dial Datejust 36 when I saw it at the AD. I worried about too feminine etc. then I realized
1) I don't care if someone thinks it's a "chick" watch
2) nobody is ever going to mistake me for a woman
3) I buy these things to make me happy not for anyone else.

Thats why I own 2 TT watches when most people think they are too '70s or to old looking.
Thats why I own a DateJust36, when most people seem to think they are just throwaways and distractions in the search for a "sports watch" and too small for modern times.
Thats why I drive a station Wagon instead of a "macho" SUV

I buy what makes me happy. I hope you will too.
Buy what you like

It is not singing to me but I don't think it looks particularly feminine

My 16623 TT Yachtmaster with white Mother of Pearl dial with diamonds and sapphires. I like it very much and do not think it is feminine at all. That said, MANY people on this forum do not like TT watches, diamond dials, or anything considered bling. That's great, I say the person should wear what they like and what makes them smile. Enjoy it. Aloha, Tim

Everyone has their own tastes. Dimond markers and MOP dials are not famine at all. From a distance no one is going even tell want the dial is. I think a dial of a watch is for the wearer of the watch to enjoy!

I like the MOP dials and stones. No two dial are the same and if with the right watch can be stunning.

For sure, no two are ever the same, saw a black MOP diamond dial in a London AD window and it was absolutely stunning, so detailed and whoever bought that has in my mind got a one of a kind rolex watch, I’d be surprised if I ever see one as nice, really should have taken photos but the security are somewhat off putting :)

I wouldn’t say that the dials are feminine by default, it’s all a matter of how it’s put together - the face, the case, the bracelet, the whole package, think of it like wearing a bright pink shirt, it’s about how you’re going to carry it off, in my experience doubt can hinder confidence, I always have to be sure. just some thoughts, be sure to do you!

Cheers,

I don’t have a watch with a MOP dial but do have 2 watches with diamond markers (Rolex Daydate 18239 with glacier blue diamond dial, Omega Aqua Terra 8500 with white teak diamond dial)

Wear what you like, regardless of what others may think / say !

What do you guys think one could get in regards to discounting on a TT Daytona with Dark MOP dial and diamond hour markers? I've recently become obsessed with this model and want to get one but don't know what kind of discounting I should expect from my AD if any? Also, this would be my third watch purchase from my AD if I do buy this watch from them.

I purchased my Watch new from a Grey Dealer in the north of England. I paid £14,500 which was £1,350 cheaper than retail. I don’t know if you would get a better discount from an AD

That is good to know but I'm trying to get an idea of what I can expect from an American AD.

Wife loves her DJ36 with pink MOP dial and bling bling. Obviously pink and bling might not be a guy thing, but, hey, you never know..... i guess.

Agree with wearing what you enjoy. Although not a forum favorite, IMO, diamond dials can look very nice. I do not think they look effeminate. To each their own :)

You know if it is just diamonds i wouldn’t mind but combined with a MOP dial it definately starts to have a feminine nature to me. But to each his own!

Something about MOP dials seem off to me, almost plastic like. I guess its not my favourite look, but listen, it doesn’t really matter what we say as long as you like it! I love 36mm DJs and people on this board call them feminine all the time.

Awesome watch. I would definitely wear this.

A shame they don't make this one anymore. At least I couldn't find it on the Rolex website.
