Good point, and people often regret parting with a Sub

My first Rolex was the sub no date and I got a little bit bored with it. I now have the Explorer ii but in black dial and it’s a keeper for sure I love it to bits so I would do that swap in a heartbeat.

Go with your gut. Both are great watches. I can tell you that I got rid of my 114060 for a black dial 216570 and never looked back. The Exp 11 is the best everyday watch I've ever owned. Love it!!!

I did that exact thing! Went from a 114060, to the polar...then back to the 114060. I did really enjoy the polar but the 114060 is just so versatile. So I would recommend to keep what you have and then perhaps add the polar later if you can. Good luck!

Not only would i do that trade, hook me up and I'll do that trade. Been using the Hulk as a daily so a Polar with orange strap would expand the collection more than the sub nd.

114060 vs 216570
Currently I own both watches. Personally I would keep the 114060. But the 216570 Polar is a beauty. Purchase the polar later. I hope the pictures will help.

I would. For my one and only I personally need a date on it. I love a second time time zone, so my pick is the polar.

Would prefer a black dial if only owning one watch

If you're getting cash on your end and you want the watch, I would go for it. Sub is a classic but the Polar is underrated and a really nice watch.

I would not trade for the Explorer II. The bezel color on the Explorer II limits being the one and the only considering you already have the 114060.

I wouldn’t.
If you really want the polar, save for it and add to the collection. |

You can always go back to 114060.
I think you should go with how you feel at the moment. |

Are we talking a straight trade here? If so, no way in hell. The Explorer II can be had for far less than the ND Sub and it's also much easier to find at an AD.
I owned both of these watches but eventually traded the Explorer II (which I got brand new, stickers on it and everything) for a BLNR. Here were my main gripes with the Explorer II: 1. Proportionally it bugged me. There's the smaller crown, the lack of balance on the dial text (the bottom feels empty to me) and the different thickness of the non-lumed parts of the hands. 2. The Explorer II is nowhere near as versatile as the Submariner due to its bright white dial, the big numbers on the bezel and the 42mm size. Now, I do still like the Explorer II and would pick one up again in a heartbeat if I had the money lying around. But it just didn't do it for me as an everyday piece and I strongly prefer the proportions and design of the Sub/GMTII. My two cents. |

If it is your first sub, do not do it.

Explorer II is not versatile.....? au contraire! The white Explorer can be worn with anything, from jeans to a suit. As a I read somewhere, "the Explorer II is like the un-invited guest to the party, who also just happens to be the most interesting".
The Sub, as classic as it is, the Explorer II is the more subtle piece, recognised only by those in the know. It's white dial offers a bright, fresh, crisp look un-matched by others, and that orange-hand adds just the right amount of pop and character. Taking nothing away from the iconic Sub, the Exp II is an excellent all-rounder, in my humble opinion. |

That’s not a like for like trade. Check used values and see the difference. You’d be losing on that trade regardless of the age difference unless of course the sub has been beaten up.

I wouldn't do it at all. Cant beat the versatility of a monochrome watch like a Submariner.

I have the older versions of both. Honestly I would keep the sub. You can find an explorer any time, and the sub has a much higher real sale. The explorers bezel does not hold up nearly as week as the subs. I think you’ll miss the sub soon after you trade.
