I currently own the Polar Explorer II and am very pleased with it. I have owned several Submariner-C ND's and they are great watches also. It is a matter of personal preference and either one will work well. I say go for it if it is what you want.

But yes, that is only depending on demand… I mean the explorer 2 216570 is a more expensive watch.

I have BOTH of this watches and i really like the Explorer 2....
What i personally think is that a Explorer 2 is the ideal second watch where the 114060 is more of the ideal only Rolex... Now if you buy these watches both you have a very very very nice balances little collection, i think there is absolutely not a better match to find as the polar 216570 AND the 114060

I certainly can see you trade it in for the 114060 to… It al depends on your personality. My girlfriend absolutely ADORE the explorer.2 gives her that ultimate james bond, tomb raider explorist feeling that this beautifull watch brings… A sub you see everywhere and you certainly can tell that the ones wearing a beautifull POLAR are true watch enthousiasts

Would i trade it??? 50/50..... Do i recommend it??? YES YES YES!! !!!!!

The EXP II has a more contemporary size, a proportional/appealing case design, GMT function, date function, ........ ..........

There is just something with this watch that no other watch seems to have... It is a certain thing of attraction that i at least really needed to have. But i still wear my SUB to nd i like to rotate 3 days on 3 days off with them or so:P

Explorer 2 . . . seems great as a 2nd, or 3rd watch. I love the 216570 . . . but i also have other watches. Suits and such with a White dial . .. not sure about that.

IMHO

I went through the exact dilemma a few months ago. I was never fully happy with my ND and wanted something different and I thought I wanted the polar. I tried it on but unfortunately it was too long lug to lug on my 6.5” wrist and didn’t look as I thought it would.

So I ended up going with the sub date and I’m still in love with it. I would definitely try on the polar first to see how it looks on you before making the plunge.

I absolutely would. The 216570 is my favorite reference by a country mile, but aside from that, it has arguably more useable functionally as a one and only.
Tough, tough call though. The 114060 is an asthetic mastepiece.

Good feedback. I agree with most. The Sub is more versatile and well it is a Sub...I dig both references and have a 114060 with an older 16570 Polar and they work great together. But if picking a one and only daily, then the Sub would be the one.

216570 Is underrated and the the absence of ceramic is a plus in my opinion. At 42 MM it is truly balanced out in all aspects; hands , face indexes. I don't care for the long clasp on the new Sub but it is a nice watch as well. That being said a white face watch does not do well as an only wear with no other options.

As wrist jewelry lean towards the sub, usefulness I lean towards the exp II. BTW I own the explorer.

I love the Polar and own one, however I wouldn't replace my sub with it. Gotta have a sub...

Prefer the black faced so if you can swap the ND for the black faced Exp II go for it

I think a white ex 2 in a suit would not be much worse than a white dialed President, Daytona, or Datejust in a suit...

don't do it; just buy the polar if you really want it as it is the only Rolex SS you can routinely find available in this drought...Also, the old 5 digits with the red hand are so much cooler!

I thought I was a one watch guy for years it took me a long time to figure out I wasn’t.
If it were me I’d keep that sub and look for a nice 5 digit ex11. You get a little near vintage
and a dual time watch to make perfect pair

I wouldn't do this trade and not because of the market value. I just think that the Sub is almost as perfect as a watch can be. They're simply stunning. If your sub has your name on the papers then even more reason to keep it.

On the other hand, there may be a new sub in the near future with a much longer power reserve. That may be compelling enough to "upgrade."
