Safe sale meaning they ask the end buyer to not register the watch online under their account so as to not harm the initial buyer's relationship with their boutique. I assume this results in a lower asking price as it adds stipulations to the sale. Also makes sense why the listing is sitting longer.

Honest question - is this just on trust basis or is someone holding back the warranty card for a year and then sending it to the buyer?

I get the ask but once I forked over tens of thousands for a watch, I'd want to make sure the ownership (even for insurance purposes) is in my name...

Gotcha, thanks for the explanation.

And as messikens said, what’s there to prevent the buyer from registering the watch anyways?

So dumb isn't it. You see that black panther for sale? Surely they can trace that to one of the 2 people that bought one.

It's a joke... I mentioned in one of my prior posts how my jewelry guy had an entire watch box full of stickered 15510s, 16202s, and 26420s at the ready when I FaceTimed him the other day. I mean cmon.

Maybe the base model can be forgiven but you have to have juice to get the new jumbo. That's just egregious and tells me they suck at vetting supposed VIPs.

I question how they leave the hands of whoever is selling them with the stickers on...?

When I received mine, my SA had all the stickers and the plastic shell already removed.
I didn't ask to keep them either but it would certainly have raised eyebrows if I HAD told them that is rather take the full watch with all stickers out the store...

So if you don't register the watch, the seller hypothetically could report it stolen and if and when you try to register or service the watch it would be a major headache

Good point.

I guess the only thing you can do to protect yourself is to make sure it has complete chain of title. Original purchasers' receipt from boutique, then a sales receipt to grey seller, and then a receipt from grey seller evidencing that you purchased the watch from him.
