I've been trying to find a way to watch TV online. No luck so far.

Buy a Slingbox. Best $150 you'll ever spend. Ever.

For example, I don't have a TV in my office, but I can "Sling" the TV from the living room onto the PC. It can go fullscreen, but I have it as a bar on the right, and then other apps will use the rest of the screen. The app itself has 1 hour of buffer, so I can pause and rewind live TV.

Similarly, I can stream the TV to my phone, and to any of my laptops.

I have even watched my TV on the Amtrak going to and from NYC from DC using a Verizon broadband card.

If you have a Roku box, you can get the free "NowhereTV" app. It has a large number of local TV channels from various markets, plus some sports channels.

If you're outside of the US then you'll have to jump through some hoops to get a US IP address, but there are several cheap providers (you need VPN service), or you can "roll your own" VPN if you're technically inclined. I built my own VPN using a virtual server out of San Jose, as Roku in Canada denies access to the US channels. "Canadian content" and all that.
