Saw my Grail in Hawaiil...and it is not a watch

That is right I saw my grail and it is not a watch. All my life I have wanted to see a sea turtle swimming in the wild. Well, in Hawaii this past week I saw one at Poipu Beach in Kauai. It was a medium sized one just floating in the inlet with the snorkeling crowds. It was magnificent.

Then the next day I saw a huge one at Anini Beach. I was out with my brother in law and it was just the two of us. The turtle was in close to shore and when it saw us it slowly turned and swam away. I followed it for a short way. I swam just behind and to the side of it. It was one of the most magnificent things I had ever seen. The turtle was enormous. I was and still am ecstatic.

Not a picture of the turtle as I had no underwater camera, but a picture of yours truly.

Been there, done that...it IS cool, huh? Thrilled that you got to do that.

If you get a chance, head over to the Big Island; there is a beach on the east end of Kailua-Kona, along Ali'i drive, adjacent to the St Paul Church and Jameson's resteraunt, where there are dozens of sea turtles that come righ up to you as you swim. You dont even have to swim, you can just wade out that they will float past you.

That's cool, Bob. I was on Kauai in October of '08 for my honeymoon, and it's a gorgeous place. We saw some sea turtles when we went snorkeling.

What an experience! I felt the same way when I swam with wild manatees in Florida. Simply amazing :)
