Half Link for and Explorer?

I cant quite get my 214270 to fit. Using the micro adjustments changes on a single position I am still torn between a bit too loose and a bit too tight. Being Summer in Spain does not help.
I am thinking of playing around with a half link and the micro adjustments to see if I can get a better fit.
Has anyone bought one from an AD for a non half link watch? no objections? or is there a silly rule?

Bought a used one from Watchfinder on eBay...looked fine and fit great. Especially since I fit that link next to the ezlink that is not extended most times, can’t even see that link anyway.

You’ll find many spare parts like that on Chrono24 too.

Curiosity: isn’t the half link same length as the micro adjustment?

I have bought a couple half links from my AD with the intention of using them on non-half link watches. However, I had a 116610 at the time and my AD had to leverage the fact that I owned a half link watch in order to order them from Rolex.

If you can source a half link (either through an AD or the classifieds here), you will probably find that you are now able to find that sweet spot for the bracelet fit. I ended up adding half links to my Bluesy, Daytona, and BLNR (when I had one) and they all allowed me to get the perfect fit. From what I recall, the SS half links cost me around $125 USD.

My AD can order any bracelet links and I haven’t purchased any watches from them.

Any AD should be able to order you a half-link (Submariner) part number is 32-21029. If the AD is nice they will order it up using a serial number they have on hand or on one previously sold.

As ordering 1/2 links (in my case), I had to provide my AD with a serial for it to be ordered. (still pending to receive them, as they were on back-order)

I did the same thing on my Explorer. PM me if you need the actual part number. Most ADs will not allow it but you could easily source one if you ask around.

Have the same fit issue on my Explorer. Tried using the half link from my Sub - while it fits the bracelet perfectly, I still couldn’t get a better sizing, it was the exact same “slightly too tight” or “slightly too loose” no matter what position or combination I tried. Played with the clasp adjustments, clasp centering, moving the half link from 12 o’clock side to 6 o’clock, no luck.

I was in a similar situation as you with my Explorer 39. I just couldn’t find the right fit no matter what combination of micro adjustment and EZ link position I tried. Finally I tried moving a link from the 6:00 o’clock side to the 12:00 o’clock side and now it fits great!
It may be worth a try.

I just got a 214270 too, and was in a similar situation. However, between adding / removing a full link, and using the 3 micro adjustments, I got mine dialed in properly to be able to use the EasyLink (clipped in the morning, unclipped throughout the day as wrist swells). I think you should tinker around with it one more time before going the half-link route. There are enough 5mm adjustments built into the bracelet to get a good fit.

And, my AD told me there is no such thing as a half link, so I stopped caring.

I had a similar experience as well. I ended up putting on a half link and it did seem to help. However, I ended up cheating some more and put on a glide lock clasp, which now is perfect for me. Honestly, the adjustability of the new clasp is great, but I think the heavier clasp helps to balance the watch even more.IMG_4342.JPG

I had the same problem, just couldn’t get a comfortable fit no matter what I tried. 6.75in wrist.

Went back to the Rolex AD that sold the watch and ordered a half-link. Arrived three weeks later and I installed it on the 6 O clock side. Perfection. It’s now the most comfortable watch I have ever had.

I'm in same exact situation . Got Explorer last week - dealer offered to size for me but I did it myself ( too many stories about butchering bracelet ) wound up taking one link out if each side . Felt good but a little snug , the next day I moved the micro over to the widest position . Been playing with ezlink during the day watch feels good for a while but then too tight , open ezclasp too loose !
Asked my AD to order a half link - hope its not a hassle to get

Good thread. I’m about to pick up and explorer 39 and I had a hard time finding any info on half links. This thread fit the bill!

Can someone comment if the part number would be the same for a half link that would fit a Daytona 116500LN?
