Does anyone know the gold content (Troy ounces or grams) of the TT Datejust 116203LXY?

I'd say only Rolex would know that and they are not about to tell anyone.

The links aren't solid gold BTW.

I don't know for sure what the gold content is in your watch, but here's a thread about gold amounts:

Oh yes, they are. In the new Oyster and Jubilee bracelets - ALL links are solid.....be they gold or steel.

The 'Gold' links aren't gold all the way thru JJ....they are steel with fused gold over them.

Your post...23 March 07

[I]Well said, Steve. But there's another matter to be considered. It is true that the process of fusing the 18 K gold onto the steel of the clasp is a complicated and an expensive process.

No-one can say for sure unless they get a hacksaw and cut a link in half and take picture of it for us all to see

Steve,

JJ was talking about the gold on the CLASP! A thick plate of SOLID 18 kt. gold is FUSED onto the steel clasp of TT Sub Date.

The centre links are hollow on the TT Blue Sub, but SOLID 18 kt. gold. And being hollow, they are actully already "cut in halfs" to let you see that they are indeed make of solid 18 kt. good, although hollow.

And I would be very surprised if the "solid" centre links of the new GMT IIc, for instance, were NOT solid! In year 2000, Rolex changed from NON-solid centre links on the DD to SOLID centre links, and it would be very odd to make these non-solid links on such a new model like the GMT IIc.

considering the above conversation, it needs to be added(although maybe everyone knows this and has already taken this information for granted) that 18K means about 66.66% gold, the rest are alloys to strengthen the gold so it is not too soft. 24K is pure gold. 10K is gold in the center with white metal surrounding it. In Asia people prefer 22K or 24K for jewelery(although the 24K
variety has to made extra thick so it does not bend or break) 24K is 'solid' or 'pure' gold. 23K is about 96% gold. Just FYI. best, dan

Well, I thought 18 Kt gold (750) means that 75 % of the material is made of gold.

And the 14 Kt gold (585) means that 58,5 % of the material is made of gold

Not sure, though!

You've got things confused, Steve.

The actual links on the new Oyster and Jubilee bracelets are SOLID 18 K GOLD pieces.

The fusing bit I was talking about is the 18 K gold fused over the steel of the CLASP.

Thanks so very much to everyone for their replies! I'm obviously in the presence of giants here!

But, you keep talking about GMT's and Sub's...my watch is a Datejust. Do these things apply to her as well?
