Noticed the WG SkyD is no longer on Rolex website....guess it was discontinued.

Seems so. Only available materials are steel, steel/gold, yellow gold, pink gold.

No Roman or Arabic numerals anymore.

Will know for sure when the new master catalog is released.

As an owner I'm happy :-)

no one is going to buy a wg sky d that looks like the ss with wg bezel.

it is that simple. rolex had to kill it.

They sell a WG Sub, a WG GMT, WG Yachtmaster II, WG Daytona, etc. and the only difference is either the dial or the bezel....same as the SkyD.

they changed the dials... only batons so there would be no differentiation. Still i contend if i wanted WG i would get WG no matter if it looks like the SS. They all do anyway and hardly anyone would notice romans or batons.

There is NO WG option anymore on the website. There are ss, tt, pink gold, yellow gold options. But no WG at all.

Still waiting for the official catalog to confirm this, but if true it'll be awesome,

I’m glad they took away the numerals. At least it makes the former PM line a little different. Regardless of who notices

All baton dials now, which is unfortunate since I prefer the numerals and how they are unique to gold

It could simply be that there just aren't many requests for the WG model. I'm not with Rolex marketing however but now Rolex doesn't need to carry the parts that differentiate the old PMs from the steel models. I doubt that parts inventory is significant in the big picture for Rolex. Maybe there just were so many requests for the dials with lume that it saw the old dials as unwarranted and that in combination with the lack of orders and new lack of differentiation spurred the changes.

yes... they changed the dials so the WG would look like the SS. The PM use to have different dials and now they dont. My point was if i wanted WG i would still get WG no matter if it was the same dial as ss... Im aware that it isnt on the website anymore in WG i was just saying this whole concept that WG needs to look different is silly.

I blame it on Rome - they are trying to strangle the Swiss by limiting their use of Roman numerals.

Now seriously, there are some factors that affect Rolex’s choices. Compared to sticks, Roman numeral dials are the more time consuming option for any model. The jigs are more complex to load, the individual numerals must be perfectly aligned and applied in a manual process. Finally, I am guessing, the error rate and rework factor is higher.

I have not done it but a review of the new dials catalog may show other models have lost their Roman dial options too.
