sub question

I am still considering buying a no date sub. However, I do have a question. Why is the movement on this watch not COSC certified. Are the 2008 models going to be certified? just curious what is the reason for this and should this be a reason not to buy the watch.
thanks

The Movement used in the Classic Sub (14060M) is a a chronometer based movement which simply has not been sent to COSC for certification. Maybe for cost reasons or to keep in line with the original sub. However the new Z series coming out are now COSC certified. Either way this watch is a beaut in its own class.

The latest example do indeed carry COSC certification. One wonders if this is a sleeper watch should Rolex redesign the sub line.

Wrong movement it should say 3130, so here you
have the detailed version.

If I were in the market for a 14060m, I would try to pick up one of the remaining non-COSC models. I've seen the newer version, and the "superlative chronometer" text on the dial just ruins the classic no-date sub dial--IMHO.

The one thing I really liked about the no-date was the clean, classic looking dial. As for the movement, I think anyone on the forum who has owned one will attest that they just as precise as any Rolex movement that wears the COSC label.

Here are some pics of the COSC rated Sub.

COSC rating is IMHO more marketing hype than a true indicator of the precision of a watch since almost any modern mechanical movt. can be regulated to run with COSC specs (minus 4 to plus 6 secs.).

I wear my 14060m every day and just love it to bits. I get a real sense of joy whenever it goes on my wrist.

It is the same movement that is in the Explorer and that model has the COSC cert., also the newer M model 14060M's have the same movement of the non COSC cert movement. It's a fantastic movement and probably one of the most accurate Rolex movements they make with or without the silly COSC cert. It truly is just marketing, don't let it sway you decision to purchase a non COSC 14060M.

It is a sweet, clean watch, and was my first Rolex, however I would pick the SD over it for the date, thicker crystal, and better bracelet!
