Seek polish opinions from you guys on here.

I recently lightly scratched the mirror side finish of my 3 month old 114060 (opposite side of the crown). Last time I ever wear a bracelet on that side of the watch, learned my lesson after this. It left a hazy rub mark look to it, I called local AD and they will polish for free. Should I get that side for f the watch “lightly” polished or just leave it alone. I know im prob being OCD about it but yes it does bother me a bit. Just checking in to see what you guys would do in a situation like this. Ty.

Leave alone as will pick up many more scratches if worn regularly

there’s nothing wrong with a light polish. It doesn’t hurt to wait until it’s due for a full service and get it done at the same time.

I'd leave it alone unless it's something you only wear for special occasions.

I go thru this with every watch.
It looks so nice when you wear it out for the first time from the AD.....
And a few days later it looks like the watch has been thru years of rough use by someone working in an oil rig or coal plant.

Look at it this way....you buy a watch that matches your personality...it is an extension of who you are. No man is perfect and we all have several flaws... physical and mental...mind and body.
So isn't it only natural that "my watch" ... something that is personal to me share those same traits....so what if it doesn't adhere to 2 seconds deviation per day and instead keeps to 4 seconds....so what if that gold bezel or bracelet has a nerve wrecking scratch /scar. The time piece still keeps on ticking and it goes on. It has the scars to mark the event and the time and it still performs when needed....what it was built to do.

Don't mess with what works. Accept it gracefully. It will be fine.
Wait for when you service it years from now and maybe you might ask that the scratch be left as is.

Is the scratch too deep for a little Cape Cod cloth?

A 'little' polish here or there adds up in the long run to lost lines and a rounded case.

Polish as little as possible. Never is best.

Just leave it alone. Wait when it is due for service. Happened to me but eventually forget about it.

Do not polish. If you let them polish it the universe will send another minor scratch the watch's way within weeks in my opinion. Scratches are like gray hairs, leave them alone.

At most I would do a very light polish with a small piece of cape cod cloth. I wouldn't trust handing it over to anyone to polish. Better yet, just leave it as is...as has been said, more scratches and scuffs will surely follow with normal wear.

Don't do it. I had a Rolex polished years ago - the AD did a good job, but I regret polishing out some "good memories" and ultimately didn't really care too much about the scratches in the first place. Haven't worn it since for fear of scratching and needing to re-polish (and lose "more" metal). Silly but true!!!! The watch now sits in a box awaiting my son's 18th birthday!

That made me laugh out loud, thanks!!

You could try a light cape cod cloth. Just YouTube a few videos on it first and try on a less expensive watch first if you have one to get the hang of it. Good luck!

Leave it alone. You will get many more scratches and marks as you wear it. Eventually it won't bother you at all and will even become less noticeable. If you are going to get it polished save it for service time, not in between. Polishing removes metal remember no matter how little. Regular polishing by Rolex at service time is no problem. Over-polishing is a bad thing.

If it’s causing you grief, just go for it. It’s a new watch. Definitely you want it looking like new..

Good reason not to wear bracelets on the same wrist as the watch!!! Even my Fitbit Flex 2 goes on the opposite wrist on the odd change that the rubber will abrade the polishing. If you can't live with it get it to a pro for repair otherwise live with it until service time. Since it's a dive watch I'd recommend living with it.

Agree. I'm a fan of Cape Cod polishing cloths too. It's a saturated cloth that you use to apply the polish and then use a Microfiber (or whatever you prefer) to polish the surface.

For around $USD 10.00 you get two cloths that, when cut down, will last for months. They work on all PM's and SMELL LIKE VANILLA!

Anyway, should you go this route you'll like the results.

Some folks use a product called Veraset (?) Which apparently is excellent as well. (I want to try it too.)

Anyway, it's only a scratch - not really a big deal.

Best,
Mark

Listen to the wise (not talking about myself, many of the people above in general)......leave it alone and just enjoy the watch. If you really still want to polish the watch when it comes time to service the watch, worry about it then.
