I thought they would have fixed the position of the date window, thats the only thing wrong with the watch , the movement is made for a smaller case size hence the window positioning. So this leaves the door open for version 3 .

As I've said on other threads, I think the 1st gen D-Blue will do just fine in the long run, all this talk of "sinking" or "crashing" is complete hogwash and has never really played out in Rolex history. That said, because there is a replacement and not complete discontinuation, there might be a temporary dip in prices as people who would have bought the 1st gen now shift demand over to the new one (some people have to have the latest and shiniest), and some 1st gen owners might sell to upgrade. It's not the overnight spike you would have seen if the DSSD was outright discontinued and I seems like a couple of people were pretty disappointed by that!
I agree. Mine D-blue is staying. I never have any problem with the design.

If you haven't seen it, Hodinkee has some good live pics of the new Deepsea. Rolex is really showing off the blue dial more than the black it seems.

I like the new one. But in all the pictures and videos it looks to me that the blue comes down a little further. Hopefully that is not the case and just lighting. I like how the older seems to have more black in regular lighting and grades down in more direct light.
I hate change, makes me nit pick stuff I wouldn't even have considered.

Do others that own the deep sea feel that the clasp is too long ? . Thats the change I feel the watch needed.

I think your right , around the date window it is lighter and the blue dose go further down the dial. The longer hands look strange compared to the older model .

If you have the current version, especially the D-Blue with the original Deepsea Challenge book, hold on to it. Also, there isn't enough changes to warrant to change if you are happy with what you currently have.

Personally, I love the DSSD and I hope the new bracelet and end-link design will make it a bit less top-heavy on MY wrist (I know many people don't have this issue). I'm ordering one.

On prices: it seems like the older DSSD have been creeping up. 6-12 months ago, they could be had for $8K and change, now used ones are selling for north of $9K.

I think that will be the new movement marker.
