D-BLUE (new) vs D-BLUE (old)

Rolex Updated the DEEPSEA D-BLUE at Baselworld2018. I knew something would happen with the DEEPSEA, that’s why mine just got in before Basel. But should I feel sad since mine is like just 4 weeks old? NO WAY. Why? Because this is the 1st generation of the James Cameron DEEPSEA D-BLUE. The 1st generation. Yes. The DEEPSEA (D-BLUE) Heritage just started on 21-3-2018 Thank you Rolex

After research and my own observations let’s discuss the updates:
- Bracele, Lugs, Oysterlock
- Crown protectors?
- Printed crown at 6 o’clock
- Font change on the RING LOCK (prefer the more vintage, fat classic one)
- Overall more fat font on the updated dial?
- New movement (not visible)
- DEEPSEA in chromalisplay?
- Less lume area on the (new) hourhand
- Don’t forget the bottom writings…not visible yet..

Hard to tell. The major difference in lighting is playing tricks on the eye. Have to wait for live shots to get the full picture.

Crown now inserted between " Swiss words Made". Bracelet appears wider and the lugs are repositioned to accommodate the new bracelet..

Tough to tell from pictures alone. I can’t wait to see it side by side to compare to my DBlue. Only then will I be able to know which I prefer

The most obvious difference to me is that they’ve “fixed” the end links.

Is it just a trick of the pic or does the new one have a larger diameter dial and bezel?

Old one is at 10:09:43, new one is at 10:10:31.

Lugs on the 2018 version appears longer and wider. Slightly more defined.

I like the first generation more! Plus that crown between “Swiss made” is a real eye sore!!

Ever notice in the composed pics the lugs look beveled , even in the left pic above. In actual pics its not at all. I wish they were.

Not sure I like the thinner Ring Lock Text, always thought that was a fake tell. But do like the tighter dial text.

New one looks good.
Old one looks good.

If you have old one- keep.
If you don't have one- buy the new one (or a slightly used older one, some people will upgrade just because they want the latest version). But remember to 99.9% of the population, D-Blue (old) and D-Blue (new) are identical.

Nice improvements, particularly the movement.
Love that the minute hand now reaches the minute markers.
Hope the Glidelock design hasn’t changed.

Have had mine 2 years and love it.

Will obviously just keep mine..

I tried on the original Deepsea, but the bracelet wasn't to my liking. This new re-design just might turn me around.
