I had a bb41 and ended up parting with it due to size. I am very tempted by this one with slimmer proportions, especially on the thickness.

Looking forward to see it at my ad.

3. The Tudor Fifty-Eight is the Submariner we've all been waiting for. Classic proportions, just the right amount of fautina and a price that means it'll take the knocks without the owner having a nervous breakdown.
Of course Bill Yao did it first, but being late to the party is better than not turning up at all.

4. With this watch, Tudor announced that the era of Wrist Clocks is officially over.

I used to own a Tudor Blue Snowflake. Perfect go-to watch but as the prices on them went stupid, I was too scared to wear it. And take it near water? No way.

The Fifty-Eight will become my new Snowflake and I was the first to call my AD and place an order this morning. I suggest you do the same.
I’ve got news for you you. The sub ceased being a “tool watch” a very long time ago. Even in its inception there were more affordable options for less affluent divers. In other words the sub as well as all Rolex have always been jewelry. And of course non wis buy it. It’s the most recognizable watch in the world. A very nice one at that. You seem to be annoyed that anybody, other than a diver who has no problem smashing it up against a coral reef, would be interested in purchasing one.

I do agree that Tudor did a great job with what they brought to Basel!

It probably is best bang for $, pick your model. But for sure, 100% it is specifically placed as second best for a clear reason. I am personally ok with that. I am a big fan of the brand, but it always going to be 2nd to the crown.

Well said.

Most all Tudors - with the exception of the original snowflake sub and maybe the big block chrono - leave me cold.

I like the new 58, but the Sub being a parody is a joke in itself.

I agree the new 58 is a great piece, they will sell a ton of them. I can see how the 41 is too big for some, especially with the in house movement (It's fairly thick). However, I think this model is filling a void, not ending a trend. I will point to the SD43 as my reference.

If the new GMT and BB41 were not 14mm thick I'd believe them.

I have all Bill’s stuff, and yes he “revived” it all first, including the Key West GMT.

Tudor needs to get it through their thick skulls that they can’t keep slapping snowflake hands on everything. I’d have purchased at least three models by now if they had the proper Mercedes handsets.

Tudor, just stop.

Love the brown strap...although I'm going to have to see it in the flesh to make any decisions.

This is a fair option for people that want a "vintage style" sub without braving the vintage market.
1. No fakes
2. Fixed MSRP that is relatively affordable
3. Updated movement and strap/bracelet/clasp. 70 Hr reserve, no worry of water.
4. Similar size to old subs.

The current Sub is an amazing watch, but this doesn't really steal buyers from that market. If anything, they buy this as well.

I'd hate to be in the $2k-$4k (NEW) market against Tudor right now.

Yup.

I also had a Tudor BBN with the rose that everyone now swoons over and I’d still take this over any Tudor Black Bay.

Yup. All day long and twice on Sunday. Great picture. I think I’ll put mine back into rotation this week.

Agreed. I don’t dislike the Tudor at all and am actually going to take a hard look at the GMT but nothing they currently offer would replace my Submariner.

On the Tudor side of things, I prefer the new Black Bay S&G.

I agree with almost everything you said except the submariner point. IMHO, recently the GMT and DJs have become more common between "Non-WIS". Plus to be honest, I don't really care what others wear, the Submariner is that special watch that ALWAYS delivers.

BB58 is amazing!

I think I would pair this with my Sub, but never leave my Sub behind

Its a lovely watch and def has my attention and strong consideration, albeit, on a strap. It's at a great price point, has a lovely history, and is a bit smaller than the other BB's which suits my 6.5" wrist and tastes. Way to go Tudor!

After looking at this year releases, I too have to reluctantly admit that Tudor and Omega provided exceptionally strong offerings compared to many brands, including Rolex. It is almost like Omega and Tudor actually want people to buy and enjoy watches.

Granted, there are some nice tourbillons and other well-executed exceptional eye candy for the wallets that can handle six figure time pieces, but overall the mid-market was a wash from my perspective, at least when it comes to the usual suspects.

Does not look like Rolex is a strong contender for my dollars in the upcoming years. At least not when it comes to the new models.

Anyone know how chunky the case is? Will it fit under the shirt sleeve better than the 41mm BB I guess is the question. Was all set on buying one until that thought popped up.

Why the Fifty-Eight is the star of Baselworld...

I’ll stick with my Key West over the new GMT BB as well.

Pics in honor of the OP mentioning Yao...

Details matter. Fonts, date wheels, proportions, colors, finishes...

Based on what Hodinkee reported the 58 is 11.9mm thick. Should fit better under the sleeves.
