127 or 217?

Tough choice, which would you take and why?

I am not the expert on panerai but as good as they are, 217 is to be worn on right hand (for left handers). Thats not to say that you cannot wear the other way around.

People wear 127 on right hand and vice versa. Each to his own.

Yes, I see these watches worn on both hands regularly — so not an issue.

Which one is more appealing and why?

The 127 for me. I’ve just always loved the 50, simple as that

Comfortability wise… I would wear the 217 on the left wrist like when I had my 368.

But I really like the 127 and would get if I slightly larger wrist.

Both look great, believe they have the same domed crystal? Tough choice — more thoughts?

I love both. The 1950 on 127 would bother me.

Definitely a tough choice, but I'd go 217 here. Prefer the destro and MM on the dial.

Would you purchase one of these without box/papers, or a deal killer?

I wear my watches on my left wrist, and I can't get used to wearing Destro PAM. Yes, I tried it ... (by flipping my 510. LOL)

I have the 127, so it’s an easy choice. My take on left side crowns on any watches is that they jar the eye and confuse the senses, probably because we are creatures of habit and 99% of all watches have the crown on the right. First glance is “hmm what’s odd there?” Much like a right hand drive car, it seems odd to us in North America

I vote for the 127 since it was my first domed Panerai. Love it still.

Still debating …

Go with 127 given its historical significance (if you feel strongly about this and is a key incentive), or 217 with MARINA MILITARE designation (again, is the MM something significant) and left side crown?

Both have the wonderful domed crystal — a must have!

Anyone know, is the large domed crystal the same/identical on both 127 and 217?
