Newbie vintage goofups

Hi, as mentioned previously, I received my 1680 red today, offcourse set the correct time but couldn't figure out how to set the date. So shot Mark Lerman an email explaining this

Quote:
I set the time by pulling the crown till clicked. Having a problem with the date, can't seem to set it. I unscrewed the crown and turned the crown but date doesn't move. Of course another pull of the crown sets the time just fine. Could you please advice how?.
Turned out this would be extremely funny to the experienced vintage guys here and Mark Lerman thoroughly enjoyed my question since the date is set by moving the hands round and round, is supposedly old school, lol! ..My first step into a vintage goofup. Btw have never had my fingers so sore moving the date from the 23rd to 14th;)

What was yours?:) Post your newbie goofups here!!

Do the old ones go backwards or no?

Oh yea, tell me about it. I did a virtually similar date change on my GMT 1675 when I got it a few months ago. Fingers were so sore.

Just imagine if you had a non-quickset DD and needed to advance it 18 days or so!

I believe the term is 'Non quick set'. On the positive side no damage (well maybe pride took a dent ) was done! Remember the piccys!

Guess I should have turned it backwards to get to 14th from 23rd quicker , was not sure if the date would change or if I would damage the watch by going reverse:)

The Citizen I bought last year was the first "new school" watch I ever had. I felt stupid when I discovered that there was a way to directly set the date.
