Grand Seiko SBGH269

I went on vacation for the first time to Japan and was due to go home on Sunday. But due to the Typhoon, my flight was cancelled. The soonest available flight home is on Wednesday. This let me have some extra free time in Tokyo!

Today I decided to visit Wako in Ginza.... and I spotted something truly beautiful that I had to have!

It was actually the best watch buying experience Ive ever had- and they included an extra leather strap, as well as a Grand Seiko tumbler cup.

This watch is pretty amazing in person, I couldn’t believe how beautiful it was as soon as I saw it.

I was just at that shop today...great people and a good browsing experience. Only downside — no discounting — won’t even discuss it. But if you’re looking for the latest releases, this is the place to be.

I agree! This was easily the best shopping experience I’ve ever had. But they would not budge on price. I wasn’t sure if it was a miscommunication or not. But I had my passport and at least was able to get it sans tax. Although I’m not sure what that means for customs. I’ve never really made a large purchase like this before. So we’ll see when I head home on Wednesday.

If they ask or you want to declare just say you bought a Seiko watch. We have, they don't seem to care much with that brand. Rolex on the other hand we have had problems once they saw the box.

There was no miscommunication, Wako is like Patek Geneva Salon, it’s the flagship of flagships, no discounts.

Congrats on the watch, I like the watch case design.

Beauty!

Congrats!

I think Rolex needs to up their dial game. Their 70's and 80's mojo needs a return.

Many congrats! What a souvenir! Beautiful dial.

And the “Godzilla” looks really great IRL. Thanks for the photo.

Congrats, That one has intrigued me after I saw it on their website. Stunning dial, love the caseback and the 39.5mm size. Just wish it was a little thinner. IMO, 13 mm is a little thick for that style of watch.

I would love to try it on in person, that is, if it ever shows up on at the Beverly Hills GS location.

Congrats...I was also just there a over the past few days. Great store and very nice staff.

Not sure if it was you but there was a gentlemen there at the same time beside me that was looking at the watch and contemplating it very hard.....he mentioned he wanted to think it over at lunch.

I recently just purchased 2 Grand Seikos and a Prospex otherwise I would have loved to pick up a piece there.

Congratulations. It’s a beautiful watch. I picked up one yesterday from a local AD. I can’t stop looking at it. It looks amazing and matches the New England fall colors!

Wow that was me! What a small world! I must've burned a hole in the watch staring at it trying to decide, until I told the lady I would think it over during lunch. Had lunch, stopped at starbucks at Ginza Six before coming to my senses.

It was basically a dream for me to be able to find this watch, and make the purchase at the Wako department store in Ginza! It's just so iconic (the location) for Grand Seiko!

This watch looks gorgeous in every pic I see. Any pics of it on the leather?

Curious how this looks with the leather strap. Which color / pattern strap did the store pair your watch with?

Nice!!! I was soo close to putting my 2 cents in and tell you to go for it and engage a quick conversation but it is not my style, especially given a larger purchase.

Congrats on the new watch and its also a very nice place to get it from.
