Icon7 Incoming SBGE249. :-)

Is there a better word than “incoming”?

No, I don’t think so!

But first, a “goodbye” to a watch that had to leave to make way for this incoming....Switching from GP to GS, but keeping the dial silver.

SBGE249.

It’s everything I’ve always wanted in a GS, and when I saw it, everything went “click” and I knew I had to make it happen.

* Spring Drive
* PR indicator
* blue hands
* nature dial (blizzard is perfect for a skier)
* SS (color, weight)
* GMT

I still need to get it sized, and will give better impressions later, but, first feelings are “wow it’s perfect for me”.

Many thanks to Timeless for being really great throughout the process, getting it to me ASAP and even including some GS swag.

Initial reactions include being mesmerized by the gliding Spring Drive hand and really liking the silky smooth bracelet.

Excellent choice! I would consider this model too if only my local AD didn't have a SBGJ201 sitting in the display case for me to buy.

For me, when comparing with the SBGJ201, I was drawn to the SBGE249’s Spring Drive, blizzard dial, blue hands and brushed lugs, but I can definitely see the reasons to choose the SBGJ201 (also a great GS movement, superb polishing, crisp dial).

Good luck with your choice.

Many thanks.

I had the chance today to read the instructions and play with the GMT function. So far, I couldn’t be happier with this one.

A quick visit to the Paris boutique, where a nice set of blue was on display......

..... and it’s on my wrist.

It wears great. Perhaps a micro-adjustment would be nice, but, the very thin clasp is a refreshing change of pace from the Glidelock and fits the more elegant feel of the GS.

Correct- snowflake is 211. 249 is more of a “blizzard” dial and a GMT

I'm really enjoying it, thank you. I'm not sure if the watch is an "upgrade" from my GP, as GP has an amazing history and superb finishing. But, the best/most interesting GPs are far beyond my reach, so I'm very happy with the switch to the SBGE249, which does not feel like a compromise at all.

As mentioned in a reply above, no, the "snowflake" is quite a different watch, with only the Spring Drive and date function being in common.

The "snowflake" is a regular production model for many years in titanium with time/date only. The dial has the look of Japanese parchment.

The "silver blizzard" is an LE of 250 released in August 2019 in stainless steel with GMT function. The dial is meant to symbolize a blizzard outside of a GS workshop in Japan.

WOW ! Big Congrats my friend Cru on that stunning GS

She screams quality in every angle seen and looks perfect on your wrist.

Grand Seikos’s are in my radar a long time now and it’s a matter of time to make the move. Unfortunately we don’t have a Seiko boutique here in order to see the GS’s in real life, something that would help me with my final choice.

Enjoy the beauty in the best of health!

Many thanks my friend, much appreciated!

I hope you have a chance to see some Grand Seikos in real life soon - https://www.grand-seiko.com/global-en/stores. There are many beautiful models with interesting movements. The craftsmanship is really great.

I always knew I wanted a Spring Drive, but I preferred SS to the "snowflake"'s titanium, so, when this LE was announced, I knew it would be perfect for me. In fact, I got the same "feeling" like with my LVc many years ago, so, I knew I would be fine ordering it sight unseen.

Here's a photo from today...As with everything else on the watch, I am a fan of the date font. :-)
