End to Daylight Savings -- Query

Is it a no/no to back adjust the time on a Rolex, just one hour? I know it could potentially damage internals if one were to make a gross adjustment. Welcome inputs.

No idea, but I moved my DD back an hour so I'm living my life on the edge.

As with most timepieces, adjusting back the time an hour when it is between 6am and 6pm should not cause any problem at all.

With Rolex, you have zero worries at any time of day.

With some other brands stick to the between 6am and 6pm for adjustments so-as you avoid making the change when the timepiece is in the middle of date adjustment.

It is a yes, yes, you can set a Rolex in any direction at any time. A gross adjustment will not affect the internals either.

You can also set the date at any time, or backwards if you are turning the hands.

But what if I'm upside down like our Australian comrades?

I regard to DST (which is the DUMBEST THING), I have never experienced any negative implication on moving the hour forward or back on any watch I've owned. While YMMV, I may not do this on a vintage Patek, I wouldn't hesitate to do this on a Rolex.

The best method, which you can use next year, is to let all your watches expend their power reserve until they stop running.

Then the next day, check the stopped time on each watch. As that time of day approaches, get the watch out and get ready. About 5 seconds before the indicated time on the watch, start winding like crazy.

Then when the minute turns over, screw or push in the crown to start the watch.

That’s it, no damage risk at all!

Changing dates, OTOH, can be a real pain. If you miss, you have to wait a full month.

Remember you read it here, so it must be true.
