Did I buy a fake BLNR?

Hey there,

I was cleaning my watches when I started paying more attention to the ones I recently acquired.

95% of my collection comes from ADs and the other 5% from people I know. This one is from a good friend of mine and I bought it off his wrist while we were playing poker.

He had the watch for four years and never noticed anything wrong with it. The first thing I noticed is that the insert was really worn off, I never had a watch getting to this point so I thought it could be normal but then I realized the GMT-Master II letters were green I know... I was so excited to get it that night that I didn’t even look at it twice lol

So I’m pretty sure the bezel it’s fake but I’m not sure if the whole watch is fake or not.

Here’s some pictures for opinions:

And some from the day he got the watch few years ago:

Thanks guys!

Not a real BLNR. Insert is definitely fake.

Absolute fake. Bezel font is all wrong. There was never a model with green GMT Master II text on the dial and blue/black bezel. Sorry man.

All good, my friend is giving my money back.

I know the insert is fake, but what about the whole watch? Is it just a GMTII LN with a fake insert? Or is it totally fake?

The GMT hand shouldn't be blue with green text on the dial as well. Glad he's giving you your money back though.

If it was an LN it would have had a green GMT arm.

Yeah, the green text is wrong.

The bezel, I've never seen that type of decay.

Major problems I'm afraid.

Dare I ask how much you paid?

Fake insert and the GMT hand was hand-painted blue.

The dial looks like a real LN, hand shack is correct, after market bLNR bezel, you might need to check the movement to
Make sure it’s not franken watch

Fake bezel or as some people like to call them “aftermarket”. Everything else seems suspect. The GMT hand is in the correct position but even that is found on some fakes. Does the hour hand “jump” to change the date?

You need to look at the laser etching of the Rolex crown at 6 o clock of the crystal to confirm authenticity.

That confirms nothing, fakes have moved way beyond that.

What order is the hand stack in?

Should be:

Bottom – hour hand
Next up – 24 hour hand
Next to top – minute hand
Top – second hand

It doesn’t look like it has them in that order

That is the correct stack in line wiht the above, botom is hour, above is 24hr, then minutes then seconds.

This isn't a sure tell anyway, in the last few years the reps corrected the hand stack with specific movements.

It’s in the correct order. You either have a franken watch or a complete fake with correct hand stack replica movement.

Best case scenario, an LN with fake insert. You got to check the movement since the watch was defiantly opened to color the hand blue
Sorry man, it happens to the best of us

That insert is definitely as fake as a size 6 model with DDD tits.

Also the dial is probably fake why the hell is the GMT MASTER II in green text? On the BLNR its meant to be white.

Green text only came on the TT or FULL PM pieces with black dial.

The only obvious red-flag was the Green Text on the dial.

Did I buy a fake BLNR?

i’m by no means an expert but that bracelet also looks very suspect, no?

edit: I think the rehaut and crown/crown protector also look off (but happy to be told I’m wrong).
