The King is Dead

Sorry Paul Newman fans. His Daytona is no longer the most expensive wristwatch ever sold.

Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime For Only Watch 2019 CHF 31 Million (same in USD).

Perhaps this will trigger a Daytona slump

The Daytona wasn’t the most expensive anyway. That honor goes to Patek Philippe’s Henry Graves Supercomplication, which sold for $24 million in 2014. But IMHO, I still go for the Daytona.
Cheers.

Not quite. More like apples to elephants comparison in that the Daytona owned by Paul Newman was just a normal $165 watch purchased for him by his wife. It has provenance so exponentially and intrinsically valued more IMO.

Is it even really a wristwatch? That thing must be massive.

Just one man’s opinion, but that is one ugly watch.

Post it in the lookout section as a gift from your departed grandpa and see how many cry fake.

The nice thing here is, that ALL of the proceeds go to charity. Bravo.

If you wore one on each wrist, would you be technically wearing four watches?

So, who was the buyer? Has it been revealed?

(Perhaps Patek bought it? It has been rumored that Rolex bought the Paul Newman's Paul Newman.)

The buyer has been revealed. I assume the service is no different than the other grand master chimes. I just don't understand how this one is worth that dollar amount and the other is ~3 million. It's not like there are tons of the other ones around lol.
