5167A Aquanaut Rubber vs Steel Bracelet

I currently have the Aquanaut in the tropical rubber strap but lately have been seriously considering switching to the steel bracelet. My AD has told me that he can source me the steel bracelet from PP whenever I want to pull the trigger but I am pretty conflicted, which bracelet do you think the 5167a looks better in? Rubber or Steel?

I usually prefer steel bracelet, but in this case I think rubber is better (hoping it will not get damaged soon...)

Rubber is textured similar to the dial. Steel is okay, but rubber is the best match.

Just based on pics, I would go for rubber. Bracelet for the nautilus.

I also prefer the rubber option. I think it completes the look.

Out of curiosity, how much will they charge for steel bracelet?

I think they look good on both strap/bracelet.

That said, if I wanted the interchangeability I would probably go for the bracelet version and add the strap + clasp rather than going the other way around due to added costs.

I thought about buying the bracelet, but decided the rubber looks best.

No offence the aquanaut bracelet need to be reworked. Its not as good as rolex oyster bracelet, ap bracelet, and nautilus bracelet.

I have and love both options, but it will come down to your individual tastes and the rest of your collection. I think the bracelet looks great and makes the watch look like a "normal" steel watch - in my case the only steel bracelet watch in my collection. It makes it very under the radar which I like. The disadvantages to the bracelet are (1) no micro adjustments with pretty big links, (2) extra cost of a 1.5 link if you're in between sizes, and (3) DIY link changes work best with a $200 USD Bergeon tool - worth every penny if you have to drive an hour or more to an AD.

So my advice is that if you love the look and are a bracelet person (like me), then of course go for it. If you have other steel watches with bracelets, you may want to keep it on the strap and when you feel like a steel bracelet watch, just grab something else.

What reworked it need......??

The Aquanaut bracelet is as close as you'll ever get to the Rolex Oyster bracelet...... Except it don't have the easylink extension....

It a sporty timepiece with a sporty bracelet.....

Own both.....

Personal preference.... I like the bracelet because it solid with the fine workmanship of the Patek Philippe & it also fit well on my wrist.......

Bracelet for me. I had an older 5167 on a strap and never liked it so I traded it for one on a bracelet and I actually prefer it to my Nautilus. Turns this ugly duckling into a swan. The bracelet integrates perfectly into the case, is solidly made and has a superb clasp that puts the Oyster clasp to shame in terms of ease of use. The contrasting polished vs. brushed links echo the case and bezel. The Aquanaut on bracelet is versatile enough to be a worthy "only" watch.
I credit SL BRABUS and his many posts featuring his 5167 for pushing to make the trade.

Bought it on rubber. Usually I prefer bracelets but for me the rubber was preferred due to aesthetic and weight , as well as being even more under the radar. The contrast of the differently finished surfaces and the polished hands look amazing when they catch the light and rvus contrast against a rubber bracelet is lost somewhat on bracelet.

With that said , If I had a small collection and wanted to mix things up for variety, I think getting the bracelet is cool.

Perhaps you are right. I always thought wearing a watch on a rubber strap while in a suit looked weird so I considered changing it to steel. Maybe I should just limit the aquanaut to casual days and wear one of my other ss watched instead.

For me it's rubber for sure. I find the Nautlius and RO bracelet much more appealing than the Aquanaut one. The Aquanaut is meant to be on the rubber.

Have both, bracelet gives the watch more presence. Rubber keeps it simple and comfy!

Rubber hands down! I personally think the aquanauts are made to be worn on rubber only. Save the steel bracelet for the nautilus.

Sell for premium

Get on list for bracelet (often not long wait as people don’t want to pay the upcharge for metal)

Add rubber clasp later

You are probably cashflow positive

I have both bracelet and rubber. And both are excellent and I’d suggest buy the bracelet version and purchase the tropical strap separately.
