Scam - Josh Lothie

Watch out for offers coming from “Josh Lothie” with email gjp0063@gmail.com.

He will say he is interested in your watch and ask you to confirm what you’re selling via TRF link. However, the link is a phishing attempt and will ask you to log in so he can have access to your account and scam others with your username.

This is likely what happened to 1Hoot a week back.

Phishing

What a PIA. I’m actually trained to spot such attempts and was still compromised at some point. I’ll be much more vigilant in the future!

Must not have been on here, you're not a sponsor and wouldn't be able to sell here. What site did you get the PM on?

That's correct - I am not a sponsor, nor was the listing on this site. It was on Timezone. I suspected something fishy when I received his email and googled his email address and this thread came up. I posted here just to let others know that this person continues to prey on legitimate buyers and sellers in our community.

Having been burned before on a purchase I don't think we can be careful enough and feel it's best to overcommunicate to prevent others from getting taken.

Just got caught on this one on TZ as well. He does a good job with the email. Changed my PW ASAP. Same email cited above. DO NOT CLICK ANY LINK ORIGINATING FROM THIS EMAIL. I had sent wiring instructions, which I don't think would serve him for much, but BE CAREFUL FOLKS.

If you send this guy wiring instructions that means he has your routing and account number. He can do quite a lot with that. Hope thats not what you meant...

That’s what I meant. This is info that’s printed on all my checks also though. W/o more data, not sure there’s much he can do.

From the OP it seems the interest here is gaining access to the forum account and using that to defraud. Don’t think he’s looking to hijack an account but who knows. That’s seems like a much riskier gamble. I’m not a crook so I wouldn’t know. Lol.

I run a small bank, so I know (and see) what all can be done with account info. Yes, that info is on the bottom of your checks. Most people do nothing with it. But sophisticated criminals can do a good bit. Lets hope this is just a scam revolving around this site, as if thats not bad enough!

Agree. Will be extra vigilant going forward. The scary part is that I’m pretty savvy on this stuff and was still fooled. Hate to think what would happen to someone older or less informed.
