Travelling with AP Too Risky?
I will be in Belgium and New York for a few weeks...
In the past I was not too concerned when wearing a watch, but these I should be more careful when travelling outside of Asia. People who live Europe and New York, will I be a target when wearing an AP? Shall I just wear my Apple Watch? Planning to bring my RO OR and one Rolex.... |

It depends on your appearance (clothes included) and which areas of town you plan to be in. I've had no issues in NYC, but I'm 193cm and quite massive.

Like above, I travel with mine but I workout and no one ever bothers me. I recommend you insure them through Hodinkee and just go and enjoy life!

Due to the way light reflects off the beautiful bracelet, and the unmistakable shape of the octagonal bezel, all Royal Oaks have a presence. A 1159 is less visible.

I'm 183, workout... But when someone pulls a good or a knife, I'll happily surrender my watch.
In NYC I will be most of time in Manhattan and over the weekend at The Hamptons. Belgium will be in Antwerp. Not going to flash my watches, although it is summer can't really cover them up. |

Is it AP RO or the Offshore? If Offshore, I think the rubber strap may hid the nature of the AP. If it is RO, maybe put it in rubber strap if possible.
I travelled with my 5164a and never had an issue. Perhaps it is because of the rubber strap. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think my point mostly was that I believe this is highly situational. Daylight, crowded, cops around, generally decent areas with upper-scale individuals: I never give it a second thought. I just wear my stuff. Isolated / dark / chances of running into trouble: I'm probably more worried about my wallet. Watch stays home. |

I've traveled with my AP RO to WA DC and NYC. TBH, the watch is very noticeable if you are not covering it up with a sleeve. I was pretty uncomfortable wearing it due to attention I was getting so ended up to taking it off while walking around.
I don't suggest you wear it visible, especially in NYC and Belgium. Both cities are well known for watch theft. |

will wear a tennis wrist band after my meetings... Although AP will cover watch theft with their new program, better play it safe...

I wear a RO in Paris without issue. Most people will think it’s fake anyhow.

NY - Nonissue as long as you stay in the decent parts of the city.
Can’t comment on Belgium |

I wore my RO in Vietnam, Cambodia, Japan in my recent travels.
For the overwhelming majority of the time no one’s really paying attention.

you'll be fine in manhattan even during the night because there isn't really such a thing as a bad neighborhood there unless you go way up north and there are tons of people everywhere. just be a bit cautious, every watch nerd can tell when someone is staring at their watch and feels like it could be an issue. the dangers would be if you start venturing out into the boroughs during the night because there's less people there and more places that are bad
in the hamptons you'll probably feel poor wearing an AP |

I'm sorry, but don't listen to the nonsense and drink the kool-aid. Wear the watch.

I never understood why people are so paranoid about wearing an expensive watch while traveling. Most people don't even notice. More concerning than someone mugging you, I'd be more concerned about potential damage or wear during travel. That's just me.

You'll be fine wearing it. Just don't go venturing into bad areas and stay aware of your surroundings. The watch theft in Europe gets a disproportionate amount of media attention because there really isn't much other crime. In the US, watch theft doesn't move the needle and so there is very little reporting of it. In the grand scheme of things, Europe is super safe.

SE Asia and the Middle East are the safest places in the world, Europe not so much.

Currently traveling in Europe with my 15500, mostly wearing short sleeves. Arm hasn't been chopped off yet.

Decided to bring only one Rolex... didn't feel comfortable bringing a 40k watch to Europe and US. Sad times we live in...

I wore my blue 15510ST all over NYC when I went Memorial Day weekend. I never felt unsafe or anxious wearing it, but I only took it with me because of the new AP coverage services (includes theft on watches 2022 and forward).

When I go to NYC I normally switch between my Rolex and Apple watch. I never had any issues or concerns, but I'm mindful of my surroundings though.

I’m travelling to the badlands of Hertfordshire from leafy Surrey tomorrow and wonder if it’s “safe” to wear my AP ROO 43?
