Favorite? Anything I can get under secondary prices. In this market it pays not to be picky.

May I ask why people don't like the 40th?

As. Its still plain, simple, just with a few extra sparkles and weight

I do like it a lot! It is definitely a grail watch-worthy piece that I am sure all of us would love to have in our collections. However, when given the - very hypethetical - choice I personally prefer the non-diamond markers and the clean dial (without anniversary embossed writing) of the original 5711P.

Hi Tyler, I appreciate the honesty. A moral for these boards. So many people knocking themselves out to get watches they want to like, but which leave no impression after wearing. I had the opposite experience yesterday with the Rolex 116519LN. Never tried a Daytona, as I've never had any interest. I still don't, expect for the LN. Damn thing knocked my socks off, and made my experience trying on other pieces moot. Nothing felt as good after the LN. Nothing.

Sorry I've got to be the big CEO of whatever company you and your friends thought I was when you tried to slate and troll me for having watch insurance, and your friend for not

You say you don't like the 5711 40th anniversary, but when you have commented on your friends Instagram Karl, u seem to have your tongue so far up his backside, that your comments say different

Seems like your a bit of a mmmmm, u can fill in your own blanks

No contest

If they colour co-ordinated the date wheel on the 5711 (a la 15202) then it'd be close!

But that's what's sets it apart

As I'm sure I couldn't have been allocated a normal 5711p as you needed to be mmmm extra special, so I'm glad I grabbed 1 of 700, which is slightly different

But I do appreciate your comments

And now a client/friend just walked in wearing this rather nice 5712G on rubber...

3700/001 Steel
5711/1A
5712/1A

Voted 5711/1A with my wallet after a tight contest w the 5712/1A, and after letting a 3700/001 Steel including cork box and certificate of origin slip through my fingers some years earlier.

Money no object it is the 5711/1P, preferably non-anniversary as I am one of those who don't appreciate diamonds enough... In case of the 5711/1P I would however make an exception. Not going to happen in this life...

SMH.

I will let others fill in the blanks when they re-read the thread below. I’ll politely agree that you were insensitive to Arnaud. Right or not with regards to whether one has insurance, the guy just had a crap day and you kicked him when he was down.

Sheesh.

https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=635950

And now you take a dig at goog53 because he said he likes the non-anniversary 5711/1p. C’mon, man, lighten up.

You are being much more polite than needs to be.

Yes, the guys above are right.

Danestaff your post is not cool at all, this is a fun hobby forum not some place to try to catch people out with cheap gotchas, and vendettas. I hope this is the end of it, many Patek members have come unstuck on this forum by not letting things go, so hope you take note.

LMAO! Yep you got me. My head is so far up Karl’s a** I can’t see straight. I rank the 5711P Anniversary just below the Lady Nautilus (If you look at the 3rd pic you posted it acknowledges that I personally dont care for the “tombstone dial”. The diamond markers and blue dial look amazing but it doesnt matter what I think just so you like your watch.) Let me know what your IG handle is and I can like your pics and make you feel good about yourself.

Now onto the original question - the 5980 1a is my favorite . One day soon I hope to have mine back from service. Seems like forever!

Who is this Karl guy?

It appears that you didn't like the 40th anniversary 5711P because you didn't get a allocation.

5712/1A. 5740/1G and 5711/1R are tied for second for me, but it's kind of moot as I'll never have the chance to buy either!

5711P VIP probably the right answer. 5711A White Dial my favorite for available to mere mortals.
