Patek 5396R Blue dial, Diamond indices?
Howdy Y'all,
I'm a man of modest taste and certainly prefer white gold or platinum over rose or yellow gold... and i've always poo poohed Rolex President ....but. I have to admit Patek 5396R blue dial is a beauty. I have seen it with rose gold indices. But suddenly wondered what if I get the 5396R Blue dial with diamond indices? Any thoughts? Have y'all seen the two in person? Also, i hear some murmuring that 5396R is really just a Calatrava. Any thoughts? Cheers. |

Will be moved to the right subforum. But I think the 5396r with or without the baguettes is one of the nicest if not the nicest AC Patek makes.... But that's a personal decision of course.

5396r is an annual calendar, it comes with blue and baguette hour markers dial.
It’s one of the most beautiful timepiece for me.

I’m not much of a diamond guy, but this watch was so stunning in person. I thought the diamonds were actually pretty subtle against the blue dial. |

5205g blue dial or 5396R blue dial
you read my mind. i was just about the post which is preferable by y'all. i personally love both. i was going for the 5396R blue dial but then i saw 5205g blue. Mesmerizing.

Perfect! The older version does not have the diamonds, it’s a beauty in the flesh

Have you tried either on? They wear quite differently despite having similar thicknesses. The 5205 felt almost top-heavy on my wrist compared to the 5396, probably due to the case design: |

I own the 5205R and tried on the 5396G.
I had my eyes originally set on the 5396 but after trying it on, it simply didn't match my wrist. Felt off although I love its classic dial layout. The 5205 felt thicker (while still relatively thin overall) and unique lugs (which I think is also slightly thicker) gives it a better fit. I wouldn't say the 5396 is just another Calatrava but its case does run very similar to it, which gives you that similar feel on the wrist. |

I have worn both 5205G and 5396R...both fit me well or i was just too focused on admiring them. 5905R fits my wrist the very best. That one is certainly top heavy. Anyways I often buy the folding clasps...so that would balance the top heaviness.
