Icon20 Strap suggestions for a first time PP owner

Hi all

I just did it... I ordered my first Patek.

For someone who has been a Panerai, Rolex Deep Sea and three times Day Date owner, it is quite a step upwards.

I have spent months narrowing the field, and ended up falling completely in love with a Regulator 5235G which hopefully is arriving within a week or two.

The watch comes with a Blue PP crocodile strap, but I would like to hear your suggestions to a replacement/alternative strap. The watch as you know, has got subtle blue colours on dial and hands, so naturally the blue colour has got a certain connection. I would however like to try to dress the watch a bit down - strap wise.

So bring on the suggestions guys

Thanks from an impatient upcoming PP owner from Denmark

Dress down?

Nato strap.
Colourful nato strap.
Rubber strap.
Colourful rubber strap.

Not sure why you bought a 5235 in the first place, as a regulator is not really anything but "dressy"?

The 5235 has a beautiful matte dial in silver-grey.

The original strap is a shiny blue crocodile strap. The watch looks much nicer with a matte blue croco strap, or a matte grey croco strap. Keep the strap simple, direct the attention to the beautifully brushed dial.

"Blue" = dark navy, right? Which goes along very well with brushed silver.

+1 on the matte finish suggestion. I would tend to avoid shades of brown based on the color of the markers and dial.

I'd try a moderately padded grey croc or alligator strap with a matte finish first, and build from there. A grey NATO would also be interesting.

Important footnote to the above: the croc or alligator strap must, in my opinion, be stitched.
