Mercedes Hand

Searching informations for a my project I found a complete article on Mercedes hour hand:

Bobswatches blog: FEBRUARY 22, 2017 BY PAUL ALTIERI
and
Quora website: Why-do-Rolexes-have-the-Mercedes-symbol-on-them
that showes the back of the hand and a video on putting the tritium.

(I can't add links for rules of this forum)

and in other web sites I couldn't find more than this.

At the end of the first writing PAUL ALTIERI says:

"....Rolex has not released any official information in regards to the shape of the hour hand and its history of origin, various theories will continue.... "

Is it true? I hope to find here more information on this legend
thank you in advance for sharing your knowledge

The three struts within the circle are there simply to provide structure for the lume to attach to.
There are vintage examples of variations to the Mercedes style of hour hand that have a leaf shape to the outside of them but the three dividing struts are arranged so as to look similar in style to the outside.
The concept is the same, just the shape is more stylish and in keeping with the era.

Other manufacturers use the same style as the Mercedes hour hand as well.
It's not unique.

Might be a variation on cathedral hands that were favoured by military watch makers.

Mercedes hands now are percieved as Rolex hands even if I understand they are the evolution of common traditional way to design hands (Zenith in past, Sector more recently and other used them...); slowly in recent era, each manufacture used Mercedes ends in past, now left to Rolex this privilege to used them; who don't know the history of horologery believe the use of Mercedes hands other than Rolex is to be considered a copy or an homage to Rolex
