ROLEX OYSTER 6480 no 338844, info pls ? ?
Hi
I have recently been handed down a rolex,the number on the top is 338844 and the number on the bottom of the watch is 6480 Could anyone please help me and passon any info they have relating to these numbers and what they mean ? ? I havent got the first clue about watches Thanks in advance |

A nice model, a manual wind Oyster precision. These movements can be very accurate.
Your SN dates it to about 1957. It would be nice to see some good resolution photos to judge originality and condition. Here is my ref. 6480 for comparison:

If a 6480 does not have the triangle shaped number markers does that mean the dial is not original to the watch, or did Rolex offer several different dials for that model over the years?

I'm no expert, but that's definitely not the only legit 6480 dial. I love the arrowhead markers, but I think regular stick markers are more common on those? Post some pics!
